Metal with people who can sing or no vocals at all

I thought you wanted technical?

Steve Vai is technical (not metal I know)...

That mosh part, imo (IMO!) is lots of noise. I suppose it's not something I enjoy. But if that was playing in a car while I was talking to someone I would have to turn it off as I wouldn't be able to concentrate on talking to said person.

I'm just really fussy I suppose. Or maybe I don't actually like metal and I'm a big pile of emo that classes other music as metal or is trying to change the meaning of it. Either way.... meh lol

They're about as far away from metal as you could possibly get. Ever.

EDIT: Also, Queens of the Stone Age are also not metal in the slightest.

:(

I must admit I'm not really sure what genre certain bands are... I just assume loud noisey guitars = metal... :D

So is Mars Volta prog rock and QOTSA alt rock?

I find that more technical and complex metal requires a certain degree of concentration to fully appreciate. Most of it would sound like noise to me too if I was trying to concentrate on talking to someone, whilst listening to it.

Maybe you are looking something catchy, but with the "heaviness" of metal?

Maybe. Won't know till I try :p
Something catchy but Metal hmm, Soilwork springs to mind.

Try these:
<-- <-- Give this at least 2 mins and I think you'd enjoy the vocals, mix of heavy-ish and clean/melodic ones, very catchy.

Give them all a try, all ace IMO.

Not sure if anyone mentioned Tarja outwith of Nightwish albums but she does have her first solo album out now called My Winter Storm, some cracking songs on there.

No. Just no. This thread is mostly full of fail anyway.

Oh rly? lol. Btw guys I will let you know how I get on with what you have mentioned at the weekend. Just at college all week and haven't had time to acquire or listen to anything. :)

Ya rly :p Recommendation threads are always so subjective. Most people don't properly address what the OP has asked for or don't have sufficient knowledge to answer. Every recommendation thread I've ever seen has had about three useful replies out of every fifty.

Here's a really good example of a recommendation thread failing -

There have been some good suggestions in this thread, though very few.

Ahahahaha that thread was full of fail.

As long as I come away with some stuff I will be happy. All ready got Red Snapper, sounds a bit like Grove Armada.

Oh rly? lol.

I agree with Lysander.
You asked for non screaming/growling bands and posters can't help themselves mentioning screaming/growling bands.

For my part my rock education started around 1970 and I can remember when Motorhead came out it was a case of "Love the music but I don't know if I like the growl".
Of course Lemmy sounds like a pussy now.
I had the same problems with Metallica and Slayer but both those bands now sound as though they're singing normal.
In my ripe old age I listen to a lot of growl/scream vocals now but I tend to choose those bands that do it justice such as Devildriver, The Haunted and All That Remains.

:(

Fingers crossed I get something good.

I figured I sit down with Adobe Audition later and make a track of snippets of parts of songs I like. Maybe then it will give people a better idea and narrow it down some. I assume its legal to use 20 seconds of a song and put it on the net?

Spot on!

I think I am preferring To-mera over Atrox. Atrox singer sings like she's a little bored lol.

Hmm one thing I would not say about Monika from Atrox is that she sounds bored! Here is another mp3 of theirs, try it out.

For male vocals - try Redemption. Try out the track 'Threads' in the media section.

No screaming guaranteed!
