Before I take the plunge and buy a b grade monitor, am wondering who pays for any returns postage if there's a problem with the item?

Thanks all. Got to say what a useful forum this is.

Ring them first to find out why its b-grade.

Ask them, if the item is not to your satisfaction is it covered by DSA.

You will probably have to pay the return in that case.

If it is DOA or damaged in transit then they pay.

According to the DSA, you are entitled.

Are you sure about that? I've just read the following -

"You must refund the consumer's money as soon as possible and, at the latest, within 30 days of receiving the written notice of cancellation. The consumer may, at your discretion, be charged the direct cost of returning the goods, but you must tell them about this in the written information you give them.

From the Office of Fair Tradings site.

DSR - You pay postage back as its your choice to return it not the e-tailers

DOA, damaged or faulty on arrival then its the e-tailer that pays for returning the goods as per Trading Standards and sales of goods act (unless of course you were made aware of the so called fault before hand and accepted the goods on that basis)

Exactly, decent suppliers will arrange for DOA products to be picked up from your house.

I got this on the end of an order confirmation e-mail from OcUK in Feb '06 - They don't seem to include it anymore, but it says you have to pay for postage if you just don't want it.

Distance Selling Regulations (2000): You have the right to cancel the contract relating to your order at any time up to the end of 7 working days after the goods are delivered. Notification by phone is not acceptable. If you exercise your right of cancellation after the goods have been delivered to you, you will be responsible for returning the goods to Overclockers UK at your own cost. You must also take reasonable care of the goods. Returned items must be packaged properly and shipped in a plain outer box. Please try to include all internal packaging, cables, manuals, drivers and protective bags, however small. Overclockers UK cannot take responsibility for goods that are damaged or lost whilst being returned.
Overclockers UK will refund you within 30 days for any sum that has been paid by you or debited from your credit or debit card for the goods.
