9-Series Lineup Revealed

Highend nvidia cards normally launch at around the £350 mark

Yup, GTX's were £500+ if i recall when they came out, im sure some people paid around that, actually im sure someone said they found their old GTX receipt for £535 or something, and the GX2 is supposedly going to be $500+ as you gota pay for the fancy cooler it needs as well. :p

Gona be case of line up, drop your keks, and remember the lube imo. :D

If these really are just more G92 cores I'm very happy I invested in an X2. I would have been upgrading to a 9800GTX but it looks like it will be a downgrade now? Nvidia and ATI really need to get some new tech out I think.

That really is NO SWEARING, cant believe the 9800GTX will be so poor. been waiting for the next gen GTX for ages and this is what they release! :(

Next gens a long way off yet judging by that table, as that says Nvidia are releasing their old 8800's still right up to August. :p

Suppose they do look poor now, as they should have been out about 8-9 months ago these refreshers, as they should have been out around 6 months or so after the 8800's, which if they were, then they wouldn't have looked so bad, but now nearly 2x years after, aye they look a joke, as they are well old. :D

Glad im out of it now, as this is a **** take, they aint getting me paying £400+ for 2006 cards still, they can **** right off. :D

I don't really care if it's old tech, as long as it better. If the GX2 gives better performance than my GTX, I'll get one.

Simplistically it will only be better performance wise because the core and shaders are effectively overclocked from factory is how I see it, other than that it comes with less memory, smaller memory interface and same memory speeds, hardly a step change or evolution in the graphics card timeline. Reinforces the fact that the GTX and Ultra were way way ahead of their time when 18 months on after all the hype the bottom line is that the 9 series is a glorified 8 series with half the bells and whistles still in the christmas cracker

Yup, id be well chuffed if i had one, what an investment. :)
I bought my GTX a week ago, played with it for a few days, realised it wasn't much better than my 3850Pro for half the price, and sold the GTX today. What's the point of being able to run every game (apart from Crysis) at 150fps when my monitor cannot see it? I am just glad I made my money back on the GTX.

..oh and Crysis is crap - too short, cruddy story, worst ending ever. Don't bother buying a new card just to play it.

That's exactly it. Practically any decent GPU nowadays can give you excellent performance for the money. It's simply Crysis that destroys everything. One poxy game. The problem is it makes the graphics cards look worse than they are, even though they're running the likes of COD4 & UT3 at max settings and on high res. It's totally pointless wanting to play Crysis atm. Go back to it in two years, there are better games out there.

anyone who got a good deal on the old GTX a year ago will be dead happy..... very little has changed since at all!

you know the old saying, "the more things change, the more they stay the same...."

It depends on what resolution you play at, what AA/AF you prefer and in game settings though. For those that want 1920x1200 with 8AA/16AF maxed out and want a high minimum fps is a different scenario to lower res with lower AA/AF where yes the 3850Pro is on the heels of the GTX, unless you are in the latter then yes you did waste your time going from 3850Pro to GTX and I can see why you decided to go back

Is a water block designed for the 8800GTX likely to be compatible with the 9800GTX? I'm in the process of ordering water cooling gear but haven't bought a gpu water block yet, don't want to waste money now if I'm going to have to change the block when that card comes out.

I would doubt it due to the memory configuration. A G92 waterblock would probably fit though unless Nvidia have a redesign of the reference board.

Edit: Or you could just get a Maze5/FuZion for the core, as they will likely fit.
