Football *SPOILERS* 23/25 February - Inc. Carling Cup

I'd suggest a lot of people actually watch the moving footage before making comments.

Bad tackle - yes. Miss timed tackle - yes. Any worse than thousands of tackles that take place every weekend - no. Malicious - no. Planned - no.

For a manager to make such a statement in the manner (not necessarily the content) he did is a disgrace. He easily forgets his players kicking the crap out of the opposition over the years yet "insinuates" a player with no history of malice "planned" to do that to Eduardo.

A very sad way to cover the fact your team only managed a draw.

Wenger says he (the player sent off today) should never play football again.
Ugh.

to be quite honest if its a tackle like that then the offending player should be out for at least the same time as the injured player instead of just getting banned for a few games .

red card = 3 or 4 match ban (1 month)

broken leg = 6 - 9 months out.

So imo taylor should be out of the game for at least the same amount of time as Eduardo

Either this or their team is docked points or something....

Yes, it was a bad tackle, but it's a freak accident that Eduardo came off as badly as he did, a 3 or 4 game ban is fair enough.

taylor should be banned for same time that eduardo is out of the game. Utterly shocking tackle...studs up....nowhere near the ball. Despicable

They have got to come up with harsher punishments imo. Thats almost a career wrecking injury..................

I feel a bit sorry for Arsenal today. Trying to concentrate on winning a match when a friend and team mate has been so horrifically injured must be nearly impossible. I was playing badminton against a guy who ruptured his achilles tendon and got a by to the next round of the competition. I could barely keep the sound of his screams out of my head. Ankle injuries always make me feel queasy now.

Wenger has no right to pass judgment on any player for poor discipline or tackling considering what he has put out on the field in the past.... and pretended he didn't see what happened.

I doubt there was malice in the tackle, just a Scholes type poor attempt gone wrong. If it was malicious, criminal action should be taken, but as I said, I don't believe there was.

It kind of sucks because I just saw that Arsenal had drawn, but to see Eduardo's injury, I don't really care tbh.

As for Liverpool, I still do not understand why Torres went near them. He is a great player, but is blatantly wasted there. I think it's pretty pathetic that any team can only raise their game against big teams and that's all Liverpool have been doing for 20 years. Their players and coaching staff seem to lose focus against the minnows from lower in the table and year in year out it bites them in the ass. August every year is exactly the same with Liverpool fans, the usual high expectations and every March is the same, with Liverpool out of the running.

I don't think he meant it and I don't think he should be banned for any longer than any other player that gets sent off.

I think exceptions to the red card rule should only apply to players that actually set out to hurt an opponent like Keane, Ferguson and Thatcher.

A lot of our problems this year have been due to our defence which wasn't the case in previous seasons.

We've badly missed Agger and having Carragher out today highlighted how poor our other options are. Think we would be at least 10 points better off without the defensive injuries we've had.

There was hardly going to be intent after 6 mins, no bad blood between the two players or even the team, he just went to give him a nice tackle to let him know he is there and he mistimed it by milliseconds, plus Eduardos studs where dug into the ground when contact made, so 15 stone of a player on the a players planet leg = break.

Exactly freak accident - he was sent off because of the injury not being the cause of the injury

Good team for Utd, would have prefered Anderson instead of Fletcher, but lets see how Darren does - otherwise its our 1st team

(sounds a bit shaky to start defensively)
