As title,

What do you guys think games that i play is Cryisis and Call of Duty 4, cod4 plays very well, but you know what its like if you can get more you want more.

But is it worth the extra money>>>>>>:)

Also as a side note,

Could you crossfire one 3870x2 on the 16X lane and then use my hd2900xt for the 4X lane would that be a good upgrade????

It's been tried with a 2900 and a 3870 and the results weren't very good, there was about a 10% or less improvement over a single 3870/2900. If you can get decent money for your 2900 then I'd go for an X2, which is exactly what I'll be doing next week. My friend is buying my 2900 for £80 and I'll be putting that toward an X2.:)

In pure power (processing) terms, the 2900xt is around the same if not slightly higher than the 3870. However, it draws a lot more power, and is a lot hotter than the 3870. If I were to upgrade, I would go for the X2.

In terms of 'processing power' the 3870 is actually ahead due to its higher clock speed... The 2900 XT just has much more bandwidth to play around with.

Umm i think people have missed the thread title, hes talking about is a 3870X2 worth it over a 2900xt.

Does your 2900XT struggle to play the games you own? If so buy a 3870x2. Otherwise keep the 2900 and wait for something much better to come along.

I switched my 2900XT for a 3870 and I think its great. The 3870 is cooler, quieter and it uses half the power of the 2900. I also found that it ran gears of war at a solid 60fps where my 2900 ran it at 40 max

depends what res he playing at, because in his sig it says he's cpu at stock which would bottleneck a 3870x2...

maybe you can get abit more out from your 2900 if u oc your cpu and your gpu to 775mhz which should per with a 3870.
