Is anyone watching this extremely poor attempt at motorsport?

I know it's easy to say sitting at home watching on a TV, but the incidents today have been absolutely crazy. The whole series seems to be more amature-ish than entry level club racing.

For an international race series, this is a farce.

(EDIT - Just want to point out that I have watched this from the very first race of the series, and it's not normally this bad)

A1GP sucks. Seriously. Despite all their grandiose posturing when it was first announced about how they'd start making inroads into F1 viewership it has proven to be pretty rubbish. The fact that they needed to have The Limited Use PowerBoost Overtaking Button Of Ultimate Justice™ to try and artificially spice up the action says it all.

I only really watch it because it's motorsport, so fills the winter where normally there would be nothing (oh and Georgie Thompson's quite nice ;)), but today was the biggest joke so far.

I generally enjoy watching the A1GP & have watched them all bar one or two races over the 3 seasons.

Today's racing was pretty much a joke, I hope they disqualify some of the drivers, e.g. Canadian, Indian & Australian.

F1 starts up again next month IIRC... so then we will have the Hamilton mania all over again :p

Having been so close to winning the title, the mania might actually be justified this time around provided it doesn't intensify from the levels of last year.

If ITV go any more ga-ga for the guy then their broadcast will be unwatchable, though. Think I'll watch the Speed channel feed on TVU instead.

A1GP really has struggled to flick my switch over the course of the last 18 months. I find watching Formula Renault or lower class races like this more entertaining than A1. The problem I personally think is that it attracts sub-standard drivers and there is overuse of the safety car at a lot of races.

Its purposely targetted for those winter months when nothing else is running.

Not the biggest farce of a race though. In the first season, the China race (IIRC) had a corner so tight that the cars couldn't actually get round it without a spin turn. They had to hold the race with permanent yellows on the corner to prevent people from trying to overtake.

That was the 2nd season at the Beijing Street circuit. Fp1 was rather funny :D

As a result of difficulties experienced during the first practice session for the inaugural race at the circuit—the A1GP cars found it difficult to negotiate the tight 180-degree Turn 8 hairpin—the circuit was revised overnight prior to practice on November 11, 2006. The straight leading up to Turn 8 was shortened and the turn was made less tight

I think the major failing of A1GP has been that its on Sky with poor coverage, more than the quality of the racing.

Because think about it, F1 is boring as hell, no over taking, safety cars are seen as 'interesting interludes', yet it attracts massive audiences. It cant just be poor quality racing thats killing A1GP?
