ive never had a car with leather seats (to be fair ive only owned one car!) and the one im looking at has lemon dakota leather. Its a 3 series e90 by the way and ive only looked at the colour in the booklet but how light is it in the flesh?. Are they likely to get dirty very quickly? i know its a case of wipeing them down every now and then but im just a bit concerned that for example jean dye may discolour them. Any ideas fellas?
 
Not sure on the colour or how it'll wear.. but are the seats heated? My dad had a merc with leather years ago and until you heated it up it was coooooooold sometimes even in summer when garaged.
 
Lemon does get very dirty very fast, drove a 2006 320i M Sport with Lemon Dakota leather, it had 3k on the clock and the seats were filthy.
 
I turned down a nice Golf a few yrs back due to the beige leather scheme, dirty when i viewed it and apparently it was the 'best' they could do lol.

Apart from the dirt what was the colour of the seats like? are they a bit too light compared to normal cream?

Gorgeous. The colour scheme on the car felt really special. It was Le Mans Blue with Lemon Dakota Leather. I'm sure I took some photos but I can't find them :(

I never found the hot seats thing to be an issue with my old e38, I wonder if the leather was treated or something?

Aircon helped anyway! :D

As for dirty, if I could keep the light grey seats clean on my e38 given that I am a truck driver & I wore my work clothes in the car, I doubt you'll have an issue.

Just be prepared to give the seats a wipe over from time to time -a leather "treatment" all the better. :)

I've only ever owned 1 car without leather seats. I'd never buy cloth seats.

I've never experienced burnt legs with leather, only vinyl. They're not especially cold in the winter, but then I'm a warm person and don't feel the cold too much, and leather treatment when you clean the car will ensure they never crack.

That's an interesting area though, especially for classics. I mean, if the owner can't even be bothered to clean and feed the seats now and again, what else can they not be bothered to do?
 
ha ha at least its not white, a mate has an 07 M5 in blue with full white interior inc the headliner and carpets
 
my grey leather is absolutely fine in the summer. Not had any heat issues. As regards keeping it clean I guess if you don't clean it then that colour will show the dirt more than other colours but it sounds really cool so it's probably worth just regularly cleaning and treating your leather. Leather is not hard to clean so you shouldn't really have too many problems?
 
Jeans can discolour Dakota Lemon so you have to be careful. Get some autoglym leather cleaner and conditioner or Gliptone liquid leather cleaner.
 
such a great looking colour tho. I specced my dream 5 series tourer on the bmw website just so i could have a look at that colour leather. Shame I don't have the 50K+ to go and buy a brand new 535D M Tourer!
