How Long Does Champagne Last?

Hi

Was going to buy my mum a bottle of champagne for mothers day. Just not sure how long it lasts once its opened.

Does it have to be consumed once its opened?

It needs to be consumed at one sitting once it is opened really or else it will go flat and loose its appeal.

I was thinking of buying a magnum of champagne, but it sounds like 2x75cl bottles would be better then.

unopened bottles last no more than 1 year for the non vintage stuff
