Cheapest MB for e8400?

Well, that's what I'm using and it worked straight out of the box. It came with bios F7, which isn't the one that officially supports 45nm CPU's, but it still worked fine. I'm on bios F9b now, which is the beta bios that officially supports the Wolfdales.

Good board for the cash.

I can 'only' get 3.8Ghz on mine though. Not sure if that's the board or the CPU, but it's still very quick anyway! :)

The P31 chipset does have the following limitations, not sure if you're aware of these:

* Because of chipset limitations, do not populate both DIMM sockets of the same channel (e.g. DDRII1 and DDRII2), or populate 4 DIMM sockets with double-sided memory modules to prevent system's failure to start or incorrect detection of memory modules. Please refer to the user manual for the memory configurations table.

* Because of chipset limitations, when using FSB 1333 MHz CPU with populating all DIMM sockets, memory frequency will be reduced from the original, and system instability or incorrect detection of memory module may be occur. Please refer "Memory Support List" for memory support information.(Note 1)

PS Riddler - whats happening with your current mobo, did you manage to get it RMA'ed?

Re the above, basically, if you stick to only 2 RAM modules, then those limitations won't apply.

I'm running two sticks of the OCUK PC8500 Value RAM at around 1000Mhz, and it's absolutely fine.
