Casulaty of the LAN I think :(

Had the xbox360 in horizontal over the LAN weekend, just set it up now in vertical and the drive won't open at all, only in horizontal mode.

Any thoughts what could have done this? Have removed the face plate to see if there was any obvious jamming and still refuses to open.

Is there a quick, known fix about this problem?

its the clamp that holds the disc in the drive, it becomes magnetic and won't release the clamp hence won't open due to the magnetic force on the spindle under the disc and the clamp ontop of the disc, can be fixed by taking apart and fixing a 2/3mm rubber washer on top of the spindle, done it myself on one of my older 360's. Takes about 5mins to do the actual drive

Just had a quick look at that Microsoft article and spotted this:

Unplug the power cord from the console. For more information about how to disconnect the power supply, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

Who are these people!!!

Nah, it's just the silver plastic on the DVD drive getting stuck. I had this and you just wiggle the drive tray faceplate when it's closed until it opens. when it's open make sure the silver plate is flush with the DVD drive grey plastic part. Funnily enough it happened to me at the last LAN.

Az and james both have this problem and end up just flicking the silver bezel on the tray after pressing eject till it opens

though i seem to recall james mentioning once that if he ejected in the blades it was fine and only happened when he pressed the eject button????

this LANs got a Jinx on it somewhere :/ Nokkons died there. Mine died a month after. Now your drives on the fritz.
