I think thats a bit optamistic but great news anyway :)

The Club can confirm that following the incident during Saturday’s match at Birmingham City, Eduardo has fractured his left fibula and sustained an open dislocation of his ankle joint in the same leg.

He was immediately taken to Selly Oak Hospital in Birmingham where he underwent surgery on Saturday evening. The operation was successful and Eduardo was transferred to a London-based hospital on Sunday afternoon.

Earlier today (Monday 25th February), the Orthopaedic surgeon and Arsenal medical staff assessed the extent of the damage and possible time scale for a full recovery.

All being well, Eduardo will have his leg in plaster and using crutches for the next six to eight weeks. After that time, partial weight-bearing exercises will be scheduled into a slow rehabilitation process.

It is hoped that Eduardo will be running again in six months time and making a full recovery after nine months.

Eduardo will be released from hospital in a few days.

The Arsenal medical team would like to take this opportunity to thank Birmingham City FC for their assistance on the day as well as the surgical and ward staff on S2 at Selly Oak Hospital for their expert medical care.

In addition, and on behalf of Eduardo, the Club would like to thank everyone for their many touching messages of support.

As long as he's ok and the leg works. :)

Hopefully he'll be back, and fingers crossed it'll be to the same level, but that's somewhat irrelevant at this point. Best of luck to him.

I hope he gets better quickly and is back on form. Would be a real shame if he spent the next 2 years trying to find his form again :(

(And this is from a Chelsea fan)

(Relatively) Good news to hear at this stage :) Strange sometimes how horrific looking injuries like leg breaks are (again that word) relatively easy to fix and get back to fitness, whereas sometimes with innocuous looking injuries, particularly to the knees, you can end up tearing cruciate ligaments and end up never playing again.

From listening to an interview on SSN the dislocated ankle was the biggest problem. Without the intervention of the physio, who put it back in to place, he would've lost his foot because the blood circulation would've been stopped.

Anyway best of luck to Eduardo, hopefully thats correct and hes back asap

He'll never be the same player again though, you always think twice about going in for challenges after something like this

One of the main images I see now when I think about it is the look on Gary Lewin's face afterwards. The man must have seen thousands of injuries but he was distraught. It's a great thing we had the best Physio in the land ready to help Eduardo out.

Apparently Taylor has quite a few death threats.

I can't believe some of our fans have made such threats and if it's true, these idiots need sorting out.

As for Eduardo, I really hope he makes a full recovery, in 9 months, I don't think so, but fingers crossed.

I really do wish the guy well, I had a similar tackle happen to me in August, I broke my tibia, fibia and a dislocated fracture of the ankle...

6 Operations later and much physio I'm still nowhere near making a comeback to football and I probably never will!

I really do wish the guy all the best and hope he gets well soon!

Please keep the blame and similarities to past incidents on a level that is not designed to antagonise others.
No-one is more or less deserving of such an horrific injury than anyone else when you consider why they are playing.

Croatian keyboard warriors according to Sky.

I'm glad it's not our lot, we just aren't that.:)

Sorry Johnny, I was going to clean up the thread, but got distracted, about time you did some work anyway.:p

I also concur with his comments, have some respect for all players, you should never wish a serious injury on anyone!!

So will Wenger buy a new striker in the summer or will he put his faith in Walcott? He looked pretty good against Birmingham and I reckon with a run in the first he could develop into the player we all "hope" he'll be.
