If you haven't played the game yet, do not continue to read if you do not wish to hear any SPOILERS

OK, so i've finally managed to get a little free time on my hands, so i started playing crysis properly the otherday...

Chucked it on the hardest difficulty, which actually proved too difficult, restarted on hard, and after getting past the point where the demo ends, and grabbing a couple of weapons and upgrade, i started to enjoy myself...

Then i got bored pretty quickly... to which the scenery changed at about the right time, and i found myself within the 'relic' Was pretty funky tbh, loved the rollercoaster ride inside :D

Then i got shot out, to find myself back with prophet, which i had to rescue, bit more guns blazing, and a lot more vehicle use, and generally more variety, so the game starts to get better, and i'm actually thinking to myself 'i'm actually enjoying this' (those of you who don't know me, i'm not an fps fan, i play a lot of quake, but that's it... it's all about the movement :D)

A quick rescue mission and i find myself back with the fleet.. blah blah blah, nuke, oh dear! etc etc.. now im thinking im gonna get right back in there guns blazing, which is pretty true, shoot a bunch of alien ships down, get the ship partially stable, and then one mah00sive dude is on deck... which doesnt take much killing tbh, couple of minigun clips and he's toast... and then something even more mah00sive appears... Awesome i'm thinking, especially as i'm now armed with my portable nuke thing. Turrets + rockets = dead, wait, fire nuke, wait, fire nuke, bang bang bang, fire nuke, run...

Back on the vtol with psycho, we locate prophet and head towards the island, and just as i'm really starting to get into the game, it bloody finishes :mad::mad:

As pretty as the game is, the gameplay was not too bad, as it varied a fair bit, but there just wasn't anywhere near as MUCH of it as there should have been :'( I thought i must only be about half way through and it finishes :(

Safe to say, there'll be a pristine copy of crysis in the for sale section shortly... not even going to bother lookig at the multiplayer side of the game.

Just my pennies worth...

Crysis seems to suffer from farcry syndrome. A lot of people thought farcry went down the crapper when the trigens got introduced, same for crysis with the aliens. I found it amusing to watch the dvd and hear them talk about how a load of the budget was spent on developing the aliens and they went through a load of concepts. Really the aliens just looked like the tentacled things from the matrix movies (names popped out of my head at the moment).

I enjoyed the open endedness of it, hated the crappy vtol flying part that was just a total headache, the aliens are really accurate...compared to whoevers flying the vtol barely able to control it with fire going everywhere.

And did you notice at the end where nomad tells psycho to head back to the island he just keeps on going straight ahead to open sea.

Found crysis more boring than Far Cry indeed, I dunno what it is but the Crysis gameplay just seems poor compared to farcry, prolly got to do with the combat and the high health in armor mode, but I still haven't played out Far Cry ( @ river lvl, about 3/4 through the game) and I think I prefer Far cry above crysis, even the trigents or whatever aren't that bad, just the combat in farcry seems nicer.

I'll prolly play out crysis some day, but atm, other games interest me more.

I don't know if I just love killing humans or what, but I stopped playing Far Cry a while after the trigens appeared, it wasn't fun anymore, I stopped playing Crysis when I started having to kill aliens, and I stopped playing Uncharted when the zombies appeared - I keep meaning to go back and finish them all, but I just never get round to it.

Yep - agree with Gerards quote above.

I actually like the game a lot despite it's faults.

What do you mean high health? On delta it does next to nothing.

Of the ending? That was the thing I hated the most! Like the OP I felt the story only got going once it finished, which unfortunately leaves me with the conclusion that I have paid £30 for what in essence is episodic content.

The levels were fairly cack, so bloody linear with the developers trying to pretend they're giving you the freedom to do what you want. For me guns blazing just doesn't work, which unfortunately leads to a rather boring snipe and stealth approach. I can only assume this adds to the games maximum playtime, taking it up to about 8 hours or something. I think thats what I completed it at.

The suit is poorly implemented, theres not enough power behind it. Armour seems to last forever under a hail of bullets but use speed and its gone within 2 seconds. I would like to reach an enemy before he turns round and shoots me in the face.

The enemies are poor, it annoys me that the soldiers don't speak Korean all the time. Kind of takes abit away from their characters, their littles cries of "take em aw owt" kinda got on my nerves. So much so that I ended up changing the config file to make them speak their native language. The Aliens are laughable too, COMPLETELY ORIGINAL.

I honestly don't see how they can make a sequel any different. The same guns will be there, the same enemies will be there, the same characters will be there. Half Life 2 was actually fun to play, therefore Valve pulled it off with Episode 1. Crysis was boring and quite frankly i'm still not sure if purchasing Crysis 2 is on my to do list. I just don't see how they can make this game somewhat unique.

AND IT WOULDN'T BE A GAME WITHOUT A CUSTOMARY DIG AT THE AMERICAN ARMY AND NUCLEAR WEAPONS LOL. What game hasn't done that before .

If you put it on Delta I think they do speak just Korean.

I really enjoyed it, played it through on Delta then got most of the way through Delta with just pistols/fists for fun. At first I found the suit hard to use properly, just switching from armour/stealth, but by the time I was attempting that crazy Delta run, I was using it properly, using speed to run up to an enemy, strength to grab him and throw him into a few others, etc. Never played it online but I imagine there's a fair few suit experts on it...

Its not that it isn't easy to use, its just not practical in situations with multiple enemies. You're supposed to be like a super soldier, not just a dude with great 1v1 armour. Often you're fighting groups of spread out troops and most of them have locked you before you've even grabbed the first goon.

As for the Delta thing, I played through on Delta before changing the config when I did my second "is it possible for me to like this game?" play through.

I'm getting killed enough on medium difficulty without trying Delta!

I recently started playing through again from the beginning after upgrading to a BFG 8800 card (which is running really hot with Crysis). I do find the military combat sections a bit repetitive - kill patrol, clear out village/camp etc. COD2 and 4 were probably slightly better. Due to the lack of "friendly" ammo pickups, you end up using discarded Korean weapons all the time.

Using the middle mouse button in the middle of combat to switch suit modes is nigh on impossible and usually results in a quick death. In truth, other than a very few occasions the invisibility isn't that useful, likewise strength - better to take out the enemy with ranged fire from a distance if possible.

However unlike COD at least you can save as you go along, handy for the later levels where I was constantly dying.

The spaceship (artefact?) interior mission is different but more of a maze puzzle than a shooter. I must admit to getting quite lost and it was only after consulting a couple of FAQ's on Gamefaqs that I figured out what to do.

Didn't like the VTOL missions, very hard to control without crashing all the time.

The final batch of missions on the ship were pretty good but so much fire going down very hard to get it done without dying numerous times.

I always think these types of game would benefit from a less linear structure, maybe more like the old Wing Commander games where the gameplay branched depending on how well you did (or otherwise).

I still think the suit is brilliant and great fun once you get the hang of it. Speeding up to a barrier, Strength to jump over it and Cloaking before you hit the ground. It's fun before you've even started picking the koreans off.

Looking forward to replaying the game on Very High a year or so later, just like I did with Far Cry.

Exactly my sentiments!

Exactly how i ended up playing, although with the scale of the levels, i suppose it does give you more angles at which to approach the enemies, but that's about it...

The suit is poorly implemented, theres not enough power behind it. Armour seems to last forever under a hail of bullets but use speed and its gone within 2 seconds. I would like to reach an enemy before he turns round and shoots me in the face.

Doesn't last long under hard, and just doesn't last at all under Delta! speeding up to enemies doesn't really work too well, found max speed was better for running away! The cloak came in handy for this, hide behind a rock, shoot, hide, cloak, move to next rock, etc etc... tedious

The enemies are poor, it annoys me that the soldiers don't speak Korean all the time. Kind of takes abit away from their characters, their littles cries of "take em aw owt" kinda got on my nerves. They do speak korean in delta mode, so it's a little harder to tell when a grenade is coming or when they're reloading, but you actually pickup the words anyway... i assume the 'completely original' comment was complete sarcasm... i too thought they reminded me of the sentinals from the matrx... tut...

I honestly don't see how they can make a sequel any different. The same guns will be there, the same enemies will be there, the same characters will be there. I've never actually played farcry, so i can't compare to that, but the ONLY reason i may even think of getting crysis 2 is to see how it looks, which, in theory, will be identical...

I found HL2 a bit of a dissapointment, i absolutely adored HL1, and i got very bored in HL2 very quickly, although, again, fairly recently i picked it back up (orange box release time) and played through it, and it did get a lot more fun after getting 1/2 - 3/4 of the way through. Episode 1 i did not enjoy at all, and i wouldn't have played episode 2 if i had bought them all seperately. But played it i did, and they completely redeemed themselves! MUCH more enjoyable, and now they have the added aspect of portal to integrate, and that was just pure genious!

AND IT WOULDN'T BE A GAME WITHOUT A CUSTOMARY DIG AT THE AMERICAN ARMY AND NUCLEAR WEAPONS LOL. What game hasn't done that before .

lol indeed ;)

middle mouse has always been jump for me, switched it with the space bar, after about 5 mins of play, it seemed fairly natural to keep switching suit modes using the space bar

I actually found Crysis really fun, i mean sure theres nothing ground-breaking there and that just makes it a run of the mill FPS, but it certainly wasnt bad. I didnt even mind when aliens and **** started flying about, which usually ruins a game. In fact i think theres only 3 bad things i can remember about it:

- the Half Life style abominable driving sections

- the final fight against the rubbish space ship thing

- that fact that its spawned more forum wars and flames than any other game in the history of the world

well i dont know about you guys but i picked up the limited edition and was really excited from what i had been hearing about best game ever and everything.

i didnt even bother finishing it and didnt even try multiplayer. got to that rescue part and just put it down. and that was only a day after i had brought it for £34.99 granted most of it was using a voucher.

sold it for £22 later that week.

and the extras ... couldnt be bothered to look at them after i put the "soundtrack" cd in.
