What are the steps to move ISP?

Currently on Pipex, was on about 4mb last month, but co-incidentally since Tiscali took over my speed has dropped to 1mb...........................Since my 12 months is just up and I was going to move anyway this has given me the extra incentive to do so.

So what do I do, lets say i've picked UKsfn's 60G package.

Do I?

1-Ring pipex and cancel and ask for a MAC code?
2-wait for mac code
3-call uksfn for migration ?

How long do I wait and I do I ensure that Pipex have canceled my direct debit?
 
I recently changed away from pipex to be*. I phoned up pipex customer support, and simply asked for a mac code. Then recieved it via email around 3days later.Then went to the be website and ordered their broadband. As my pipex runs out 2 weeks after the day when i get migrated i should be with internet for the whole process. Today is the day i should migrate to be*(around 2 weeks or so since the whole process started),as soon as i do i will phone pipex again just to be sure my direct debit has been cancled as ive had a few problems with pipex and billing in the past.Also on the 1st billing date that pipex would have been i will check again just to be sure that no payment has been taken.

Well my experience was more:
  1. Ring pipex and ask for a MAC
  2. Wait for MAC
  3. Ring Pipex and ask where the MAC was
  4. Wait for MAC
  5. Ring Pipex again, demand MAC
  6. Wait for MAC
  7. Ring Pipex, throw toys out of pram, finally get MAC code over phone
  8. Punch details into UKFSN web page
  9. Send CC details to Enta for setup/first month
  10. Setup Enta direct debit
  11. Bask in joys of open, honest ISP
 
just out of interest how long were you without the internet for during the transition period ?

only time ive had to change was when i changed house, and the previous occupant didnt tell me who the ADSL was with, and didnt cancel it. Just stopped paying her bills and left no forwarding address'

I had to ring BT up and get a cease order put on the ADSL link tied to her supplier. This took a month (obviously to deter you doing this to change quicker) so not typical of most change overs.
