I think I'm too scared to play Condemned 2

Can't wait for this, will need to buy the first again as I only completed it the once and never saw the other ending. What we need are more school cooks and more dark basements with things in.

I thought the first one was excellent, but with two small children I can't see myself getting much playtime if I did puchase this, so will probably give it a miss which is a shame :-/

I would love to play through DooM 3 but far to scared too! Same with Ravenholm on Half Life 2.

This reminds me of an old work mate who had the same problem with Doom 3. The thing was his little daughter used to laugh at the game. Not calling you a wuss or anything, but I did call my old mate that more than once. :D

The only game that's ever given me the heeby jeebies was the original Half Life.

I only played through Condemned when people were in the house, in the middle of the day and I had up-beat music on in the background.

It was one of those games that was truly scary as opposed to 'oh no, it was dark and you jumped out at me, whatever will I do' gameplay. The combat was bordering on insane, I actually felt involved and enjoying whacking things with a sign/lead pipe/flaming 2x4.

For the love of god play this game, don't be put off by the fact that it's a launch title, it's in the top 5 360 games.

condemned 2 better have a better final battle than the first game. The lead up to it was quite good, but the actual battle was just easy. Tbh, the fight in the final room before the boss was harder.

is condemned like bioshock or worse.

I'm truely scared of bioshock...

I'm waiting for resident evil to come out. I think it will just own the rest of the genre. RE:Nemesis was fantastic to play.

/goes to see if his locak store has condemned for xbox360 :D

bioshock is like watching an episode of the simpsons in comparison lol. i would the best way to sum up condemned is this: its a horror you play through.

Personally the atmosphere in RE2/RE1 scared me much more back in the day (although I guess I was comparatively younger etc).

Dunno how anyone can get into the atmosphere myself as the noise from the dvd drive would be so loud as to ruin any quiet atmospheric moments etc. (had same with some ps2 versions of horror games, you know a scary moment is coming when the disc drive starts spinning like crazy!!)

Headphones combined with a little less over exaggeration of the drive works wonders.

Indeed that is a solution. But I am just saying that people go on about how atmospheric these games are, I can't think they are all using headphones? For me when there is silence in game, I immediately pick up on any other noises around me.

p.s. You do not know how loud my ps2 was, I am not exaggerating :)

No I agree with you there to a point.

What made, as a classic example, Condemnded so damn good for me was playing it on a dark's winter night before Christmas 2005 with the wind howling around the house and making the trees rustle. Now THAT was atmospheric and I swear added an immense feeling of "O hell J, this is like 4d dude!"

But likewise there's nothing better than hearing dead-silence as you're playing a game and been able to hear a drip-drip-drip of water or faint footsteps behind you without the faint humming and spinning of a drive.

I just think if a game is really really good, you tend to automatically block out the sounds around you and immerse yourself in the game.

All I can really remember is my two days of that latter level in the house. The ambiance was just crazy with the window shutters slamming from the wind outside. I heard a noise near a window and went over to investigate...nothing...I turned around and Ka POW (batman stylee) I had taken a 2x4 to the head as I fled, and ran into even more goits.

The last time I was so scared was when I played Blair Witch: Rustin Parr for the first time.

The first one scared the living crap out of me in places...but i absolutely loved the game..superb. Now for the second one??...im drooling at the thought of playing it, i just hope its as good or better than the first one.

I played it with the lights off btw:p...damn that was fun
