The Ring.

Surely there's a chance of this happening on any track day, not just the 'ring?

Well, on a normal trackday you can plan when to go so you get the right crowd?

For example, 205 owners only...never been but you do have a point

Ahh, not all doom and gloom Nick then

As we are young boys, sleeping out in the cold or the car isn't a problem.

Is there a place you can camp? And food etc, we'll take our own haha.

Check out this: http://www.camping-am-nuerburgring.de/

We stayed there last May and found it great fun. Costs about £10 per person per night which is nothing and there is no need to book, just turn up and pay. Was really quiet during our stay so making a noise at night wasnt an issue and we had a rather large bonfire, sorry campfire, eveynight without any complaints :D There is a decent sized shower block right round the corner from the site where you pitch your tent which is also rather handy.
We're going back in May this year and will be camping again, its all part of the fun :D

That's where we stayed. The noise depends on who is there. Sometimes its really quiet to the point of spooky, sometimes (espically when the touring cars crew are around) it's very noisy. Bonfires are welcome there. They actually sell fire wood at the shop. We were not near the greatest shower block in the world but it did the job. I personally prefer the hotel life and its cheap but if ** with a bunch of mates I guess camping is a laugh. Our tent was a bit small tho... The Mini Owners Club certainly kept us entertained with their tribal antics.

Overall, the camping scene there is very different to the UK sites I've been in to. The UK we were always the drunk ones tripping over the sensible campers tents staggering home from the pub at 11.30PM with everyone else tucked up in bed. At Camping Am Nurburgring we we the wussy ones going to bed at 1AM and getting peed off with everyone else partying til dawn!

If you book now then it will be easy to get a cheap crossing. Leave it til April to book and you will pay a premium.

Could you imagine causing a massive stack and racking up that kind of bill! :(

just doesn't bear thinking about does it. That said there's plenty of room so unless you dropped a load of oil or something.... Guess you never know what might happen tho.. But then again if it was just like playstation and you could press reset then it wouldn't be quite so exciting.;)

speedferries are very good, the only 'downside', if there is one, is that they go to boulogne rather than calais, but its only 20km down the road..

eurotunnel doesn't have to be expensive. if you book early enough in advance it can be relatively cheap

Strange when top gear went round they said it was just 5 pound to go round, when its actually 15 :(

15 euros does not equal 15 pounds! ;)

if you clip the armco expect a bill of £1000+ as thats what i got for a few metres of armco! they also charge 25 euros for printing out the invoice for you!

My mate is worried his golf won't be able to complete the 1100 mile trip and do the ring.

So far i'm looking at these prices :-

£90 fuel
£10 Campsite
£40ish ring
£30 ferry

What have I missed:D??

Fuel is a tad optomistic - I was getting very low mpg as yuo do when hooning around the ring.

Also, £40-£50 for eating out at Pistonclause - has to be done.
