Hi

got this board today and well disappointed. The bottom blue pci express slot makes the second graphic card sit an odd angle. The NB, SB get very hot 70c even with the supplied fans fitted. Going to get rid of this and go back to my Formula extreme. Shold have read more on the threads. beware buyers.

Could you explain a little more please? What do you mean by an odd angle? I have just sent back my Asus P5N-T deluxe because of a intermittent network port, and given that I had 2 faulty EVGA 680i boards, I was considering another 780i board such as this. I have an Antec 900 case. Is it because the Graphics card fouls the hardware on the other side of the case? I have 2 x BFG 8800GT 512 OC2 cards and dont want to have a problem with yet another board.

Regards

Gunrunner, that network port issue is a bug, not a fault. Still, don't blame you for returning the board!

I had 2 striker ii's and one P5nt-t, all had the same problem - ie. network port doesn't function after s3 resume unless you power down at the wall.

On the Stiker II, it has exsisted since BIOS 901, 801 didn't have it, so hopefully a future BIOS will resolve it...

Hi

gunrunner the bottom pci card slopes from left to right as you look at it when fitted the right hand side being a good 6mm lower. Again the NB and SB are riduclously hot 70c and hardware around them hot also. Have the supplied fans fittedas I am watercooling. Shame the NB cant be wc'd. PCI works ok but seeing as the boards costan arm and a leg you would thing ASUS could get it right..

I have been reading this as well..however, mine was a slightly different problem. I didnt need to power off. I carried out a vanilla install of windonws Xp and it did not work for 2 hours, then all of a sudden without warning, with no reboot, the port appeared and we were working again.

ahh I understand. It sounds like a problem I had with an ASUS motherboard some years ago where the parallel printer port sticking out of the back panel was at a funny angle. I built in excess of 200 PCs over a period of 5 years (in my own business) and I remember on 4 or 5 occasions I had to return new boards because during manufacturing the component insertion tool when inserting the parts on the boards screwed it up and the component was out of line. It sounds as though you had one of these problems with yours. The quality control isnt what it ought to be and we as consumers tend to be the quality control these days.
