Ive had my E6600 @ 3.5Ghz for around 6 months now on an Asus P5N-E SLI air cooled with a Noctua NH-U12P CPU Cooler.

Current Temps from surfing to playing Crysis @ 1600x1200 on a BFG 8800 GTX
are usually 40>45°C.

Ive used the onboard 'Auto Voltage' and was wondering if i could squeeze anymore outta it on air or would i be better switching to water ? Also how much more has anyone squeezed past the 3.5Ghz mark?

That's pretty lucky compared to mine, it won't do 3Ghz by CPU default. You could probably get more out of that chip.

Auto voltage tends to have a habbit of pushing a lot more voltage than you need and giving you higher temps as a result. It can be well worth the effort setting the voltages manually then you only have to give it as much as it needs for that clock. imo the best way of mesuring load temps is too run orthos for 15 mins, games dont tend to load the cores up as much or as consistently. Most people seem to be able to get around 3.6. Load temps under orthos around of 60 aroud are considered ok for a 24/7 oc normally.

24x7 stable til the RAM upped and died - been running it at 3.6gig since... my other E6600 needs 1.6v (minimum after drop) to get 3.8 stable.

3.6 realistically is the upper limit unless you don't care about how long the chip lasts - get some high end cooling or water on it and run it 1.6-1.65v and you should get around 3.8gig stable - more if its a good chip.
