Lighting is a bit naff however, other than that graphics look ok
Tis a long way off - i would put my money on there being improvements to the graphics before release.

Thanks, just got my PS3 so not really upto date on all the stuff.
Traded in my 360 and got the PS3 for £30 with staff discount.
They're bullshots, but the actual game shown at GDC had 720p 4xMSAA @ 60fps which is an amazing feat to pull off. You would need to look very very hard to find jaggies in the game itself. The game is going to stomp on everything else released this year in my opinion.

I'd like to see you find a PC that can play crysis at those settings at a full 60fps.
But he's right, Crysis will look better than MGS even on the default High settings with 0xAA not at 60FPS but still, visuals wise. However Knives is probably correct, MGS will stomp on pretty much anything else on consoles this year I reckon. (Unless Alan Wake comes out th is year)
Thats the online section of the game which is seperate from the SP, and for an online section of a game with more featured online play than Gears of War your comparison is flawed, and at 60fps its twice the framerate with 4xAA which gears has none.

Crysis is an awesome game but it's hardly the best game ever. I beat the campaign mode once then wondered why Crytek did it again (stop it with the poor alien levels already). I wasn't talking graphics when I said MGS4 would stomp on everything else released this year.
Obviously one game is out and the other isn't, but I just have a gut feeling that at the end of the year, one of them will be spoken about fervently and the other largely ignored. We all know which one each will be.
Gears uses deferred rendering AA which operates on a level similair to 4xMSAA - in fact it even did transparency anti-aliasing at 4 samples. Gears of War is still far better looking than Metal Gear Solid 4. Nobody's kidding themselves here, it's UE3 licensed tech versus a one-off Konami project. It has to be the best to attract business.
The meat is in the gamplay and story. Metal Gear was never about graphics, and those who say otherwise are only doing a disservice to the series and what it's really about. It's also diving into the inevitable console wars again.
