Faster and more optimised

ATI is working hard to ship a new RV670 A12 revision to the market. All current Radeon 3870, 3850 and 3870 X2 cards are A11 silicon based and the new silicon should definitely improve things here and there.

The A12 revision definitely sounds like higher clocks are possible as we are sure that there is still some space for optimisation. ATI now works at a bit more relaxed deadline as it has a good chip to compete G92 generation, but again if DAAMIT pushes a bit more it might even win.

These chips are expected in mid Q2 timeframe.

thats really not nice we all buying 3870 now and they releasing faster ones so it will be like xtx or something more expensive or just replace old ones. if they replacing old ones can they replace two of mine because its not really fair is in it

Have you ditched your GTX for crossfire now? Kind of a shame if they do release faster 3800s, I've just gone and bought a 3870X2 20 minutes ago too

hmm...these cards fly at over 900mhz....so with the a12 revision I wonder if 1.1+ghz will be done

If so, they will be mighty quick as they do have loads of shaders that are just dying for more clocks.

It happens, i felt narked when they released the GT wich beat my more expensive GTS 320Mb card. so i swapped lol but yeh happens in some form or another all the time

i hope not... drop the prices so so many people can come in and steal them, and then they upgrade the cards??? no way, man...

what about crossfire compatibility? will the A11 and A12 cards be compatible with each other?

I'm sure they will be crossfire compatible. It's still a RV670

Good times for ATI at the mo, these should be faster out the box and maybe more headroom for o/c, this and maturing drivers are def gonna release some very useable shader performance in game

Oh no! A gpu company refreshing old tech with new processes...........and no Loadsamoney ranting that it's disgraceful? ;)

Surely this can't be right!! :D

Good news as always, I think there on about this card here?

Id definatly wanna hold out for this card, the size and less heat/noise factor is gonna be worth it alone :)

I heard the 3rd party cooler varients were starting to find there way onto the market now and over the next month.

The ASUS TOP X2 is floating about in the states in limited quantities now.

I love the powercolour box in that pic, "professional coling system" ( as opposed to ..unprofessional cooling systems apparently?) then a pic of what looks to be a totally different cooler from the one on the card.

Looks more like a speed guage or possibly a thermometer :p
