im in a similar situation and when i phoned up my local dentist it turned out they went private and were wanting to charge £80 just for an initial check up :(

Its when they scrape the plaque off your teeth with a pointy stick and then buff 'em up with an electric polisher thing.*

*actual medical terminology may not be 100% accurate.

Checkups are free.
Scale/polish is £9.50
Filling about £35-£50 (I think, not had once since I was 9)

checkups are £15.90 this includes scale/polish

small work , fillings/extractions etc £43.60

large work , crowns/bridges etc £194

you only pay the largest price so a checkup and filling is £43.60

I presume those are NHS prices?

if you've not been for a long time you wont be nhs registered anymore and they cant re-register you without your oral health being 100% i.e. you'll need to pay for the work privately before they register you for nhs

Don't suppose anybody knows roughly how much 2 implants would cost private do they?

Tooth implants, not breasts - my manboobs need no augmentation :p

I wouldn't worry if you need a filling, but if you go and they mention RCT then run.

Oh, and it's £40 for a filling, if you want a "white" one it'll cost more :)
