I know a lot of people on this forum have either been to Canada or actually live there, so I thought I'd ask for some advice.

A friend of mine is getting married in Ottawa in late September. I'd definitely like to go but it seems like a waste of money unless I combine it with a holiday. I'm looking to go for about 7-10 days in total.

I've been to Ottawa before. It's a nice place and it has some great restaurants. However, I didn't find that much to do in the city. My current plan is to visit Ottawa and another city.

I've considered Vancouver but it's a long way. I don't fancy all the extra flying on such a short trip and I don't really want to spend all that extra money either. Montreal sounds like a good shout as there's a train from Ottawa and I've heard that there's lots to do in Montreal.

So far the cheapest flights I've found have been with Thomas Cook through Canadian Affair (around £350 pp inc. tax). Zoom had some good prices too, but their website didn't return any direct flights to Ottawa. Air Canada came back with flights for ~£550 (I flew with them two years ago for £260!).

Any city/activity recommendations? Any good places for cheap flights and decent hotels?

Go for the wedding then go somewhere decent, like America

Only thing I can offer is that canada has some sexy ladies. :D

Also dont bother with Niagra, think blackpool but worse.

Both true.

I'd definitely recommend Vancouver, it's worth the flight and if you look at westjets website you might be able to get a good deal. Another option is going to Banff/mountain towns via Calgary. They're really beautiful! September might be a weird time for that though, it's cold enough so the summer sports might be tricky, but not far enough into the season to ski...
