The magistrates have spoken...

Good result, but some have said I think they know that you'll take a pummeling come insurance time..

Depends entirely on where the 30 is. There are plenty of 30 limit areas where 60 wouldn't be in the slightest bit dangerous.

Somewhat missing the point of a 'limit' there, methinks :p Just because you can, doesn't mean you should...regardless of whether you think it appropriate or not.

Compared to a ban though, it's a good result :D
It's a surprising result, sure, he's fortunate. But since he's got so many points and has just acquired more, isn't a ban more appropriate given he can't drive within the law?

No. A ban was necessary. It's a poor result IMO. He's done it once now again no doubt he will do it once more.

60 in a 30 shows unbelievable immaturity.

Was the magistrate high?

So you've never done anything silly on the road before?

Yawn, clearly the courts say no. Go and wave your highway code somewhere else.

I've been running some quotes and it's gonna do me for about £600 in the first year, obviously dropping off in the next couple of years to virtually nil.

I have had my CD10 with 4 points coming up to 4 years now and it still adds about 30-35% with pretty much all insurers. It won't be virtually nil in a couple of years.

Your lack of contempt, something the OP has admitted to deserving, is truly immature in this instance. Sure, he got off lightly. Great, let's hope they made a good call and he doesn't do it again. However, his record and the statement 'i always will drive a bit too fast' don't fill me with confidence.

Oh, FYI. Last time I read a highway code was 15 years ago. I just apply common sense instead. There's no NO COMPETITORS link for you unfortunately.

Read the rules on mentioning competitors please.

Olly, I don't know if you realise the background here - he did well over 60mph in a residential zone with, IIRC (Correct me if I am wrong Sam) parked cars etc.

That he wasn't banned is a miracle, and also a shame, becuase now he's back to being an accident waiting to happen with his DSC fuelled idiocy. He needed a shock to calm him down :(
