New Ariel Atom 500 V8!

Wow that's looks bonkers!!

Pretty much a track day car only though. My brothers best friend had the Supercharged Atom, but had to get rid of it as it was just too loud -apparently driving it hard without a helmet and ear plugs was pretty much impossible and he understandably didn't want to don a helmet each time he went for a spin :(

LAME. Bikers do this for every trip. I sure as hell would put up with that minor inconvenience if I had an Atom - especially if it was this V8 model! :D

This will be immensely awesome.

Can't wait for more of this though:

tbh :D

Well wasn't the previous supercharged version with upgrades about £30k? So I can't see this being more than £40k

I'll eat my shoe if it's anywhere close to £40k. It's only realy competition is the new caterham with the same engine and the I to an extent the caparo t1.

The engine costs £8k+ iirc but you're going to be paying through the nose to have what on paper will most likely be the fastest road car available.

Both the Caterham V8 & Atom have the Russell Savory 2.4 litre V8 engine, not sure about the T1 though.
IIRC the Caparo has a 3.5 liter V10 that isn't two bike engines welded together.

I do think that this car and the Caterham will be much like the Caparo T1, very dangerous, too little grip at low speed and really only good for a track, I can't imagine actually driving any of these cars on the road to work :p

I recently watches the Caparo T1 episode again and it think JC said he got wheelspin even in 3rd gear, cornering wasn't very smooth as the car was searching for grip that isn't there due to the light weight and no downforce as the speed is too low.
