Crazy to think that Bent is paid more money than Berbatov, Keane, Woodgate, King, et al!

No surprises that Terry and Lampard are top for Chelsea on exactly the same wage.

WTF @ Bent & Owen salaries

Bent better start scoring some goals ill give him till the middle of next season if he aint scoring sell the **** and then get rid of comolli for bringing him in at that price and salary

I'd be surprised if Torres actually gets paid more than Gerrard, especially as he supposedly took a pay-cut to leave Athletico and join us.

Sol Campbell is paid more than Ferdinand and Vidic

Thats the funniest thing I've ever read.

Did he not go on a free to Portsmouth though - probably why his wages are bumped up a bit. Portsmouth were probably prepared to pay him more seeing as they got him for nowt! Same with Ballack!

I thought Beckham was the highest paid player?

Either way some very shocking players in that top 20 :p

For some reason this thread has made me think of the lyric from a Del Amitri song...

"While American businessmen snap up Van Goghs for the price of a hospital wing".

Becks salary is tied to ticket sales or some such malarkey, so isn't listed as such. It's more like a sponsorhip thing than a normal salary (not that these are "normal" salaries in any way), which the article excludes.

Ahh, teaches me to skim read the source :o

Players that suprise me in there are Torres, Sol Campbell and Darren Bent.
Campbell is a well known money grabbing scumbag tbh...

I call BS to that report. There's no way Spurs are paying Bent £90k a week... absolutely no chance! That's what West Ham offered him, he took a 50% pay cut to join Spurs.

It's surprising how people like Scholes and Giggs aren't in that list. I bet the money doesn't matter in the slightest to them. If they had bigger ego's they' be right up there.

"Torres took a pay cut as part of the transfer – a drop from £103,000 a week in Spain, to about £90,000 according to The Times."

£90'000 * 52 weeks = £4.68m, though I suppose that figure wouldn't include bonuses etc

I can't comment on the £90K since I find that hard to believe but I equally find the idea he took a 50% paycut to sign for Spurs from Charlton as hard to believe. He was on around £25K at Charlton.

He had the option of moving to Spurs or West Ham, Spurs were supposedly offering half of what West Ham were.

Its got nothing to do with ability !!

All this does is tell you who has the best agent !!

Lets face it if it was left to footballers to negotiate, who are usually a couple of waves short of a shipwreck, they'd be paid a hell of a lot less.
