Solution to people parking in your parking bay...

Long story short - I live in a flat complex with alloted parking spaces. Recently the extra parking has been removed so people with two cars are parking in people's marked up bays. Most annoying when you come back from a days work and someone is parked in your parking space...

Last night I parked up in my own space and one of my neighbours had a guy parked in his bay. I offered a solution whereby we push the car backwards out of the bay! It worked a treat (well almost).

We managed to push the car backwards out of the bay but then it hit a slight incline and the handbrake held properly and we couldnt push it back any further - the guy was able to get into his own bay though so job solved to a degree but the other car was now blocking the car park completely.

A quick call to the local beat bobby later saying there was an abandoned car in the car park and a tow truck solved the problem.

Now we wont always be able to push cars out of our bays because they will be left in gear, etc and the clamping company is useless and never comes - so if we put up our own signs saying "You will be clamped if you park here" can we buy a cheap clamp off ebay and clamp someone parking in our space?

I'm suprised the parking company aren't hot on this. Can you not complain to the owner/landlord of the complex you pay your service charge to?

Someone I know lives in a flat near me with his GF. He has a car and she has a moped and 1 parking space. They got sent a letter stating they would be fined/banned from the car park if they continued to keep parking both vehicles in the 1 space, even though they could safely park both within the lines of the space.

I'd love the parking company to take notice!! We all would. People have been parking on the roads outside for 2 years without issues but recently someone complained to the police about this and the police have said no-one can park outside anymore so people just park in other peoples spaces. Its a complete nightmare. The nearest normal car park is half a mile away so my housemate who has a 3 month old kid is having a right job when somene has parked in the bay. Means he has to carry all the kit and the kid half a mile to get home!!

The police understand the parking space problems and turned a blind eye to the parking in the street outside but as someone has complained about it they now have to stop people parking there so people just steal free parking spaces. I just blame the council planning departments who are continually letting flat agencies throw up loads of flats with inadequate parking all round the area

Can't you get those poles put into the ground which you can lock in an upright position and so stopping anyone without the key parking in them?

was looking at those poles for an idea! Fitting one into the group d would a problem tho! Not interested in vandalising the other cars so slashing gyres is a dumb idea LOL.

ask the managment to get a different clamper, who is more money hungry, that will sort the issue.

Don't clamp cars yourselves, you need a licence.

A bollard that you can raise/lower with a padlock seems like the sensible solution, problem with vandalising peoples cars (apart from it being illegal) is that they'll be inclined to return the favour.

why dont you just knock on the door of whoever has left their car there and say 'dont do it again, you naughty, naughty man'

?

be as polite or not as you wish :D

The whole reason for clamping the car would be to find out whos parked there! Its not like they leave a name or number saying "Call me if you need the car moved". Had one person do this which was cool but the rest dont bother.
