SPOILER FREE!!

With only 3 months (an a bit) before MGS4 is out thought id get my self re-acquainted to the story lines of the previous games. Finished MGS3 ages ago and MGS2 on my PC even longer so ive forgotten some of the story, and some of the links with Characters. So I was going to play them all through again, but me having limited time (with all the other games im playing) thought id watch the MGS3 Existence disc as i never watched it before. Well i just spent 3 and a bit hours transfixed to my TV lol, i forgot what a great story it was and how much i enjoyed it. I left it to the very end and got a surprise over the end credits regarding the story, never knew that even though i must have been told it lol. I was just wondering if any one who had the MGS3 Subsistence game watch the movie on the 3rd disk? And if so do you think more games should do something like this, its not just a collection of cut scenes they add bits of the gameplay in as such and do a bit of remastering, I hope MGS4 has a similar mode on the game or even a special edition version with it on BD, as im sure I wont pick up all the info while playing it. :)

I doubt very much that I'm going to get MGS1/2/3 complete before MGS4 arrives, so I may have to do what you have done, and at least try to finish MGS2 before 4 arrives so I will understand whats going on in 4.

Also why am I writing in Italic?

inoshishi MGS 1/2 only take around 4 hours each to complete, 3 might be a little longer, and you have a few months till mgs 4 yet :p

The first two are short but not that short :p More like 10 or so hours for each of them. The third I'm not so sure how long that lasts, not completed it yet. If you play the first game on your PS3 make sure you've got rumble turned on :D

Hopefully they'll announce the MGS collection pack shortly for Europe :)

10 hours?! you're having a laugh, i ran through them in under 5 hours regurly, and that includes my 1st run through.

I knew they were short but didn't know they were that short, might have to have a try of getting em all done before 4 then :p Got so many games on the go at once I've got a serious case of game overload!

Fair enough its pretty linear, but I just don't see how on your first play through of the game that you could do it under 5 hours unless you skipped all dialogue, knew exactly where you were going so as not to waste any time or knew all the boss's weak points. I have no doubt you can do it that quickly once you've played through it a couple of times though :)

Clearly I am not worthy of your level of MGS awesome :p

yeah exactly, there is at least 3 hours of dialogue and cut scenes

Most definatly you are not :)

EDIT: also MGS is a very simple game, it's a matter of sneak from A to B, kill a boss /repeat. And tbh the bosses aren't hard at all. Even when you come up against multiple rex's on MGS 2, On my 1st fun through of games i like to run through quickly and see what can be unlocked with doing it in a certian time limit/lack of saves(Thank resident evil for that)

yeah exactly, there is at least 3 hours of dialogue and cut scenes

Which you are not forced to watch

I do listen to the story, on my 2nd play through(with bandana ;))

Heh.. fair dos if thats how you like to play it, I see you edited your above post as well now to include more. I think the majority however would play through the game 'properly' the first time :)

Also when i did watch the fmvs my total time wasn't near 10 hours

Well we've already established your some kind of MGS playing god Soulja so of course it's not going to take you as long ;) :p

I think 10 hours is a fair time for someone playing the game properly (ie no cutscene/dialogue skipping) for the first time without the use of any guides or use of any of the special items you get by completing the game, with MGS2 taking slightly longer maybe nearer 12 hours.

Either way, Inoshishi, you have three fantastic games to play through over the coming months. Lets just hope the 4th can live up to them.

Try MGS without being spotted at all, or killing anyone (this is harder to do in MGS1 due to no tranq gun). It's incredibly fun. I used to do those runthroughts to try and get 'Fox' rating or whichever the best rating is.

Pretty much how i used to play, try to get through without killing guards etc, same for splinter cell, its much harder but more rewarding. Anyway Ino play them if you can, but like i said i think the movie idea is a good one and hope MGS4 follows suit.
