£100 playing @ 1280 x 1024 (HDMI)..?

unless you cant stretch to it i would recommend a 3870 but im out of the loop at the moment. looking for a similar budget video card myself.

Though the actual card people are being sent out are the GDDR3 version which has a different cooler, but otherwise the same features.

Make sure you get 512mb as it's pretty essential these days.

Games like Crysis can stretch my 512mb a bit on the 3870 at 1680X1050, so yes, you do need it.

They refresh on Thursdays, so you have plenty of time.

Just bought the offer of the week powercolor extreme 512 3870 card:

It doesnt seem to come with any games although ocuk states it does but it does come with a dvi-vga component out cables and dvi-hdmi adapter.

Havnt tried the card yet as I'm waiting for other bits.

Hope this helps anyone wanting the HDMI out for certain.

Why not the powercolor? Isnt GDDR4 supposed to be better for the 3870?

I dont believe there is anything in it (maybe you get a higher overclock with GDDR4), so i wouldnt be worried wether it has GDDR3 or 4.

Powercolor makes a lot of noise afaik- fan works at 100% all the time.

Within budget and 512MB.

Have to agree with that going 512MB at this stage. The Ocuk range are very good value atm. I would go with the £111 Ocuk personal, but if £100 was a strict budge i would go with the one I linked.
