But surely if their being with the club brings in more money then they are being paid, then they are indeed worth the money they are paid because they are a going concern, as in any business?
If the money didn't go into the players' pockets, then where would it go?
Straight into the back pockets of the club owners, who deserve it far less than the players.

im not sure - only 3 or 4 premiership clubs ever make a profit... SO if the wages werent so high, ticket prices would probably be lower, as the wage salary is one of the largest costs to a football club.
