World's highest paid players

But surely if their being with the club brings in more money then they are being paid, then they are indeed worth the money they are paid because they are a going concern, as in any business?
If the money didn't go into the players' pockets, then where would it go?
Straight into the back pockets of the club owners, who deserve it far less than the players.
.

im not sure - only 3 or 4 premiership clubs ever make a profit... SO if the wages werent so high, ticket prices would probably be lower, as the wage salary is one of the largest costs to a football club.

Its the other way round, if ticket prices were lower then wages would be lower. Their wages are determined by peoples willingness to pay. People will willingly splash out £450+ for a season ticket to watch the players. The players bring in a large amount of revenue hence earn a lot.

No player in the world is worth that much money. It's a joke to say the least.

The 1000s of people that pay their wages clearly disagree...

Your reliable source is wrong. Crouch is on the same deal from when he signed from Southampton which i'd be suprised if he's on more than £40k per week.

I would say that while the "going conern" arguement sounds feasable - ie if the players generate more money for the club than they are paid collectively than that is what matters most (plus of course X for other players to be bought in)

The thing that is impossible to quantify in general is how do you compare Vidic's salary to Ronaldo -yes of course Ronny scores a lot of goals but is that any better for the team result than Vidic stopping a lot?

In general though it always seems to be the flair players, those that play attractive football are paid more - while the defensive/distructive players (from the opposition point of view) are paid less

Yes there are one or two notable acceptions but in general thats the case I think

...says in the papers today that Liverpool are offering Crouch £35,000-00 a week, take it or leave it.

If I was a Liverpool fan, I'd hope he'd leave it!

Why? He's our second best striker by a mile. Don't wanna get rid of him and leave us with Kuyt and Voronin thanks.

£35,000 for a proven International, Champions League and Premiership goal scorer? Only a fool would hope he doesn't take that offer.

I think he signed a new deal at Milan just the other day :p

Yes he did, but that doesn't mean he will stay. 1 league in the last 10 years and probably wont even get 4th place this year- ~20 points behind a team that Liverpool made look poor. This isn't a young team that will get better it's an old team without any money to buy new players. Kaka is a good guy so he might stay for next season but that would be it.
