After months of deciding which car to go for and then weeks of finding the "right one" with abusive phone calls from dealers and "wasted" money on inspections I have finally found my new pride and joy! Without further ado I present to you my new Audi S3:

2001 Audi S3 Facelift, 47k on the clock with 5 stamps in the service book, 12 months MOT, new cambelt and refurbished alloys.

The standard spec includes leather Recaro seats, xenon headlights, auto climate control etc but this one has the additional heated seats, full glass sunroof, rear parking sensors and Bose sound system. All this points towards one very happy new owner.

Bit of a step up from a 1998 Vauxhall Astra 1.8 I can tell you. The Quattro gives you so much more confidence to get on the power in the twisties. Suffice to say I haven't had long in it yet and certainly don't know what it's fully capable of, but I am hugely impressed so far. Can't wipe the grin off my face!

You could argue that a BMW 3-Series is a better drive or that the Leon Cupra R is cheaper or indeed many more arguments. I can only say that the Audi was the car I was attracted to most. I felt more at home with it and after test driving one simply knew that it was what I wanted.

Let me know what you think!

Looks great, congratulations! Nice to have sunroof as well these days :)

Now que the usual interogation of how much you paid for it and the shock horror 'OMG you got skanked' thats seems to come with anyone buying a VAG car on these forums

apart from the tiny dink on the rear bumper, that looks mint and v clean

good stuff

It is mostly mint. The dink in the rear bumper and a couple of repaired stone chips in the bonnet and a couple of chips in the windscreen. But if I will be picky :)

That looks great, these are one of the few cars I really could see myself owning atm, shame I could only just afford one :o

I like that - nicer than a Cupra R, imho. Suprised the Quattro made it feel planted though, I thought it only kicked in when it detected slip so in most circumstances it's FWD. Looks like it's in pretty good condition, always wondered why Audi dont bother multifunction wheels though.

How much?

I dont think there is anything more annoying on forums than this sort of provocative post.

V.nice :) well spec'ed too :)

How you find the engine note, ive heard its not the best a bit harsh?

The engine note is a bit harsh at the top end, but the turbo whistle from about 2.5k upwards makes up for it :)

Yeah, apart from that dent in the door, that looks very nice!

??? There's no dent in any of the doors, just the little knock in the black bit of the bumper unless that's what you meant?

Such a nice car :)

Same lump as the TT (mk1) ? .

Ben.

Yes indeedy.

It's permanent four wheel drive with very little in the way of front/rear power shifting. There is a mod you can buy plug'n'play that replaces the Haldex ECU with one that will direct more power around, primarily to the rear, but even without it, the car is still real grippy. For sure, being an Audi, there is an element of built in understeer but then I am hardly the world's greatest driver and it is no doubt going to be better for me that way!

I looked at the multifunction wheel but it only came in "4 spoke" format and I do prefer a "3 spoke" wheel having used both before, but still, I know what you mean! Still the stereo isn't *that* far away!

How much? More than I should be able to afford really, but hey you only live once! Came in at £10,700 after laborious negotiations but the car is in great condition and well spec'd. To be honest, I don't think I got ripped off by any means, especially considering what other rubbish there was around at that budget point! Trust me, I saw a handful!
