When do you think there will be a drastic price drop on say this system below? I’m wanting to get a new quad system but I’m really think the QX is on its cutting edge bracket.
I priced a system about 5 months ago and it came it at around £1200 now its more like £500. It was at the time what you might say Nearly the Dogs….But now looks poor.

Intel Core 2 Quad Extreme Edition QX9650 3.00GHz (1333FSB)
Abit IP35 Pro DDR2
4GB DDR3 (2x2GB) Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTX 768MB GDDR3
Seagate Barracuda 750GB 7200RPM SATA-II
Antec Nine Hundre
Enermax 1000W Galaxy Power Supply

Sorry just to add that Vista 64 home premium does that come with the 32 bit version as well? I read that it does on retail?

indeed it only comes with 32 bit. you have to send off for the 64bit media.
don't forget you have to do a clean install again to get from 32 to 64 bit.

Just to note that the Abit IP35 Pro is a DDR2 mobo and you have spec'd DDR3 for the system? maybe a typo? :)

Save some cash on the 1kw PSU, if you really want the Enermax Galaxy get the 850w version.

Peace :)

i doubt that will price drop within the next 6 months,

don't bother with DDR3
get a Q6600 will do the same as that processor unless you are clocking to the extreme, that saves you 400 quid

EDIT: at the moment that spec comes to 781.35 just on CPU and Motherbord, hardly 500

Everything is cheap at the moment?

4gb of ddr2 = cheap
dual core that can clock to 3.5ish GHz = cheap
8800GTS = cheap

with a bit of tweaking you can get a cheap system now... i don't see a good reason to wait?

why buy quad core... i've not seen any benchmarks that make go wow i've gotta have one.

you want:

Q6600
p35 motherboard, unless you relay want to go SLI or Xfire
4GB of DDR2 800Mhz or 1066Mhz RAM
8800GTS or hold off for the good 9's
Corsair HX 620W
and what ever hard-drives you want
