Stepson refuses to sign on. When asked by his mother why he won't sign on he say's it is none of her business despite the fact he has not worked for over 12 months and makes no attempt to get a job. She is the one that is keeping him but will not do anything about it. The youth is a complete waste of space. 25 years of age etc

I am tering my hair in despair. I want to go in to his room and knock the stuffing out him and throw him out but the trouble it will cause between me and the Mrs isn't worth it. For politness I have kept this clean. Not my house also so there is nothing I can do. I would rather the Mrs not tell me about his response and attitude as it just enrages me.
 
Don't make an effort to get him to become a dole scrounger. Make him get a bloody job! Jesus Christ!
 
As long as your wife funds him and puts a roof over his head he doesnt need to work,she needs to stop giving him cash so he has to either sign on or get a job.

Can understand your frustrations.
 
Grow a pair and tell your wife to stop giving him money. When he moans etc he will realise he needs a job to live.
 
I don't think you can be classed as a youth at 25!!

Anyway, can't his biological father have a word on behalf of his mum? Or he is he a dole scrounger?

He lied to his bank telling them he was still working and so they gave him a £1000 overdraft he has now more-or-less spent.

He's an ass and considers his son's actions non of his business. In any event if I sort his son he will attempt to sort me- this kind of rubbish. Don't get me wrong I would flatten him but this acheive nothing.

Tell him that he's got a lot of potential, but he has to use it. And make up some story that at your stage of life you were like him until yougot a job and that after that it changed your world, and you were able to buy commodore 64's and led handheld pinball games with your not-so hard earned dosh!

you really need to find out why a 25 year old won't get a job or sign on, perhaps he is depressed about something, it can be hard to get yourself out of a dark place. Does his mum fund evenings out etc... if so she really needs to stop, she is not helping him. I don't think throwing him out will solve anything But you must get your wife to stop handing life to him on a plate. I had a friend who's son was exactly the same she did his washing, cooking, cleaning and gave him spending money When it was pointed out to her that she was not helping him, she stopped doing everything except to provide food he soon found a job. He is still there 18 months later and his confidence has improved and of course his parents are much happier.
 
He is too lazy. He even used to run away from school quite simply because he didn't think he should go.
 
You want him to sign on for jobseekers allowance, yet you say he makes no effort to find a job?

Make him pay rent. If he can't pay, kick him out.

I know, goodness, even my dad, who's a minister would kick me out at that age if I didn't try and get a job. I wouldn't even want to live at home then, hope to be married - or getting there - and settling in probably a rented house.
