what would be your ideal business?

I live in a Village with a population of 13,000 residents and the High Street comprises of a One Stop (gorcery store), four Banks and several Estate Agents with a Morrisons a further one mile away.

The closest stores for anything else are 20 miles away.

An ideal business venture for me would be to have a clothing store selling Surf/Boarding/Sports goods.

It would be a fantastic business to have as it's a young persons area.

What would yours be?

I'd like to loan money. If people want to spend money they don't have, I'd love to take advantage of that.

Surf Boarding and sporting goods? is it next to a beach with good waves?

I would've think something that the local community can use everyday - ie food/drink.

Although not me personally using the capital, I'd love to work for the Connected Ventures group in New York, the people behind Vimeo, Busted Tees and CollegeHumor. And after watching the Threadless office tour (http://blip.tv/file/690429) I'd love to be able to create a large scale business in the UK for user generated fashion. I think it'd be rewarding, creative and ever-changing.

"One Stop (grocery store), four Banks and several Estate Agents comprise our high street, with Morrisons a further mile away."

Alternatively:

"Our high street consists of... etc."

Why don't you do it then?

I am sadly one of those statistics in the system that had to go bankrupt due to high debts :(

Its a big thing having all the Animal, Quicksilver, Vans stuff. Every where I look there is someone with some type of this stuff.

A good quality product with a fair price tag, along with a good revenue to get back.

Bloody hell, that's a shocker! My brother came pretty close once, but managed to avoid it by a whisker (thanks to the help of a debt management company).

Bankruptcy is scary.

That's the fashion, i doubt they actually sell wetsuits or that many of them.

Trendy Food/Drink - Everyone
Sporting goods - straight away you lose lots of business from a big chuck of the population.

I'd like to have my own techy shop, selling computers and hardware components.

:)

There has been several individuals who have tried that in the town closest to us.

Unfortunately they didnt last very long and all closed for the same reason. The Internet!!!

Although the shops were closed, they did venture into support instead of hardware and are still going strong now.

I didn't know that - must have been using it wrong for years! :o

/edit: "Our high street comprises four banks, several..." is also right according to Wiktionary i.e. used in the active voice only.
