If you had the capital.....

I'd buy out Spie. ;)

Fear not, I have no capital, never mind would he sell! :o:D

As if i would go about it in the exact same way & like no other vid site has had any success.

If you intend to change it, then why bother with a failed site? Why not start a new one?

And from a business point of view, I can count the number of successful video streaming websites on one (badly mutilated) hand.

Well you'd need to buy it as they won't let anyone else use their web player :(

You wouldn't need to buy it at all, if you had the capital and the interest, you could develop something as good if not better.

would take a long time and, you'd probably be sued for breach of patent at the end :/

Great less completion.:)
Why start a new one when one is already well known.

Plus you don't know why it failed. & it was not because of the quality & functionality to the user which i have yet to see matched or bettered as that's the parts i would keep.
Or do you think it has to be low quality & hard to download content like youtube to make it work.
There was nothing wrong with stage6 in its self the way they went about making money is another matter.

Well if you really think that is a good investment then good luck to you. I just don't personally believe that resurrecting Stage6 is a particularly sensible venture if you're interested in making a profit.

All of the non payper view sites made a loss until they get enough adds & the fact that sites like youtube is still with us shows that it can work even tho its not the best of quality.
The same goes for search engines.
Starting a new one will not give any more advantage unless you have the funding sorted & if you had the funding then there would be noting wrong with buying out stage6 & moving on with a better plan to generate money.
If your funding plan is a bad one then it would make no difference weather it was a new site or one taken over it would simply fail.

Wasn't intending to continue this, but you have to be joking... Youtube is owned by google, thus giving it a practically infinate budget. If you're talking about creating a video streaming site as a business venture and justifying it by saying, "It must must work, look at youtube!", it is like creating your own OS because MS windows is quite popular.

It was not owned by goggle to start with & that is part of the flaw with your argument.

You are saying that i have to be part of a structure like google for it to work & not bother with stage6 but telling me start new vid site from the ground up will put me in the same situation as stage6 anyway with out the backing of a bigger company & if it could work for my new vid site it could work for stage6.

Well, as I've already said. If you happen to find yourself in a position to launch such a thing. Then good luck. :)

No the point is you should have just said that such a venture is doomed to fail & not made out there was something pacifically wrong with Stage6 & that starting a fresh new site has a bigger chance of success with out even stating why a new site has any more chance than Stage6 with no backing from a bigger partner & no adds.

of course it's probably never going to turn a profit, but it would be nice to have it around funded by someone else's money :p
