But you'll confine yourself in a power rangers suit and a helmet?
being in a helmet is totally different though lol.

If a bike and a car have an accident severe enough to trap the driver of the car in the vehicle, the biker will be dead.

Not if i fly off and end in a bush :p and I didnt mean a bike car accident, I just meant in general car accidents.

You don't seem to appreciate how bikers fare in serious accidents

You dont get trapped in a modern car in a minor accident, only in a properly serious accident. Which would kill you on a bike

btw, 'lol' is not a form of punctuation.

No they won't!

Several years ago we where making a right turn down a country lane, as the nose of the sierra was on the other side of the road a motorbike smashed into the front driver side wheel. I remember looking up to see this kawasaki flying a good 50ft up in the air revving its nuts off and coming to a stop a good 150ft away in a field. The driver shot straight off the bike, went over our bonnet and skidded a 100ft down the road and pavement.

He was an RAF pilot testing his new bike and hit us at 100mph, his glove came off his all in 1 suit which resulted in a broken wrist. Other than that and a few aches and pains he was fine. Had it been a car we would all of been dead.

Yes being a biker is dangerous and you are a lot more vulnerable however there is a greater chance of bike and rider becoming seperated.

My point is that you shouldn't make sweeping statements like that, every accident is different.

Was talking to a friend last night and he was saying that he now rides more defensively in his car and has a lot more consideration for bikers now that he knows I'm riding one. Basically before he didn't care too much about them but now if he does hit a bike, it could be me! At least that's another person who is more considerate.
I agree that some people can be asses in cars/trucks but to be honest, the vast majority are fairly safe and some even acknowledge bikers and move slightly to the left to let you past.

Its my form of punctuation im spechul!

I was joking I do know how vulnerable we are on bikes, it dosent take much to kill.

Ok, I was wrong and the accident statistics for bikers are fabricated.

Not at all because I am sure the first thing you did was pop off to google the statistics.

You said that if a car accident is powerful enough to trap someone in a car then it WOULD kill a biker, you seem to be pointing out that it is a certainty which it is not.

Yes, biker accidents usually fall into 2 areas, those that involve the biker falling of his bike with no 3rd party involvement. They rarely get reported unless there is serious issues with the bike. The 2nd group are those fatal accidents because on a bike you do stand a higher chance of dying from an accident. I am not denying that, just pointing out that your know it all post was wrong!

If you think 100mph bike crashes which involve the rider getting up and looking a bit miffed are the norm then you are somewhat mistaken.

Oh, and take your 'know it all' phrase and shove it :p

:o 100mph never.

Its not the crashing thats the problem, its the sudden stop, be that a wall, fence, Armco, on a very lucky occasion you might just slide down the road and be ok (if your wearing leathers)

I never said they where the norm, just using it to show you that nothing is 100% and there are exceptions to every rule! :)

But I think it was quite clear that my opinion was that using the fact you hate the idea of being trapped in a car after an accident to justify bike riding is a bit flawed.

The ONLY real reason to ride a bike is becuase it's a absolutely amazing fun and perhaps a bit quicker through traffic. Not becuase you fear being trapped in cars.

It really depends on how scared you are I suppose, I know a girl who can't step out of the house because she is scared of birds :D

I don't know, if you really had to choose would you rather die from:

Coming off your bike at 80mph and hitting the side of a lorry resulting in instant death.

OR

Having a crash in a car at 80mph, being trapped in the car and bleeding to death, or worse, the car ignited and you burned to death.

First option sounds much better to me! :)

Heh no thats not my justification for riding at all, your bottom statement is more the point, I was just stating that what I love most about the bike is being free and when im in a car I feel confined and would hate the idea of being trapped in an accident.

Its a lot quicker not a bit ,the cars stop you carry on going right to the front of the lights :D
Its also much cheaper on fuel and general running costs ,tax is cheap!
Free parking ,easy parking .
So not the only reason as you seem to think
