2nd car ?

hi guys,

coming up to my 18th birthday soon so im going to change my car whats best to get for a round £3000 i have a diesel 106 at the moment which is painfully slow so im looking for something with more grunt if you know what i mean, not sure as to get another diesel (defo TDI) or try a petrol this time.

Diesel will most likely be pointless, and you can get quite a lot for your money...most will probably say Mondeo.

Id agree with a mondeo, but you will have to investigate insurance. At 18 i was a £950 named driver on a 1.8 Sierra....

I just figured I'd be first to say Mondeo.

At 200miles a week you can easily stick to petrol and it'll work out cheaper than getting diesel.

What you can get depends on what you'd like from a car, and what insurance is like. I've found Mondeos to be rather nasty on insurance, whereas most people here say they are amazingly cheap for them.

I guess the 106 is something like a 1.4? I'd say find something in the range of 1.4 petrol to 1.8 petrol, they shouldn't cost too much on insurance and will give a lot better performance/speed than the 106.

I love them 106 diesels, I believe they are 1.5L. You might wanna try a 1.6/1.8 petrol car.

yeah i like them a lot, does the 01 model look the same as the 04 model? ive seen pics online and imo the 04 looks nicer but i cant see much difference.
