im sure theres some of you out there that can do it, forwards or backwards flip and landing it,

im trying to learn how to do it, but i cant find a way how to practice without breaking my neck! :p

so any advice and how to learn or do it ?

learnt to do them in foam pitt many years ago, probs tried now would face plant more than likley

I would say a backwards flip is easier to practice. You're more likely to be able to catch yourself if you get it wrong.

yeh thats what i thought, as your arms would be more than likely facing down,

but its how do i practice i mean the technique must be a huge part in it.

Watch videos, get technique advice from breakdancing forums, get in front of a large bed/crash mat :)

Front flip:Take a run up swing arms in front of you plant them on the ground (if you can't find a mat do it on grass) use the momentum you've built up to swing into a hand stand as you reach a vertical position push with you're shoulders and you should land either on your **** if you don't get up enough momentum but you get the idea.

Back flip: Crouch with your arms down the side of your body swing the arms forwards to backwards and as you do this lean back and push off with your legs try to keep your arms tense for when you hit the ground (or you'll land on your head) and your momentum should push you the rest of the way over.

and before anyone asks yes I used to be a gymnast!:o

Gilly a front flip is a hell of a lot easier and a hell of a lot less painful if you **** up

not really just start trying it as long as you've got enough strength (not much) you'll [pick up what you need to do in 3-5 goes, then be able to do it most of the time 10 goes later.

Just don't be afraid to fall, cause if you are then you'll hesitate to swing your arms lose momentum and fall, which is what will generally happen the first 5 times till you figure out it's not that bad.

Oh another question when your doing a backflip, are you flat footed ? (standing totally still) or basically on your toes ? (got a bit of a swaying movement)

I can front flip easy enough but back flips on solid ground currently elude me. Best way to practice I found was doing it on a trampoline as you can get your basic technique sorted without hurting yourself, plus get longer in the air to pull the move off. Once you're confident with that, try doing them onto crash mats.

on your head be it when it goes wrong

well actually it will be on his head but you know what I mean :p

Well I used to do gymnastics quite a lot, Unless you land really awkwardly, or with your neck/body twisting, the worst you end up with is a bit of tender/stiff neck for a while.

I will give it a go, does being 18 stone pose a problem ?:p
