9800 GX2 Cebit Pics.

Wow that is huge.

But somehow I feel its cheating again.

the ATi X2 is actually two cores on one card, thats two cards just reversed :/

ATi one is far more impressive IMO (engineering sense)

Supposed to weigh a ton as well, could damage your PCI-E slot with the sheer weight of it pulling down when its installed. :p

Pure comedy this. :D

Agreed, 2x cards slapped together is absolute rubbish, should have learned from their 7950GX2, ATi's showing them how it should be done. :)

Lets have the side splitting prices revealed. :D:D

Are the 2 above living under a rock ?, ASUS and GiGABYTE both made DUAL Core on 1 PCB Nvidia cards, so ATI were not 1st.

Infact Asus had 3 Diff Refresh Gens of Dual Core Cards, 1 had external PSU (6800GT/Dual)

What about the ATi Rage MAXX? got there way first. :p

Or the Gemini series? (2x X1600, 2x 2600 XT)

And let's not forget the X1950 Pro dual!

Fwoar!

Actually ATi were first with the Rage Fury MAXX:

All are newer than the Nvidia 6000 series and your LINK dont work, and the fact remains about above, its been down before the current ATI X2.

I believe Vodoo were 1st same with their version of SLI, and they were around before ATI, then Nvidia bought them.

I think it will weigh around 690grams. I've heard that the max pci-e allows for weight is 690grams not totally sure though.

Rage Fury MAXX was well before the 6000 series, and also before the Voodoo 5 dual chip card actually.

Rage Fury MAXX = 1st Oct 1999

Voodoo 5 = 15th May 2000

As far as i no yer it was voddoo who first got a dual gpu out to the masses, then microsoft screwed them over and were swallowed up by nvidia, who 10 years later finally bring a decade old system to the masses

You could SLI a couple of Voodoo 2 cards together. That was truely monster in it's day.

The first major 2-chip-on-a-card solution was the Rage Fury Maxx, which had terrible latency issues due to the way it shared the workload between the chips.

I had a Voodoo 5 for a good while. Great little card.

I believe we're still to see the 4 GPU's on a single card of the Voodoo 6 matched.

It's a good thing the chassis takes the weight and not the motherboard then isn't it? :p

Surely it will still put a strain on the board though, and these guys are worried.

Surely its gona be a PITA if everytime you want to move your case your gona have to take it out, as moving it around could break your board, your gona have to take it out everytime you upgrade your other parts, as you could pick your case up and SNAP, be a right **** on.

Load of fuss over nothing, if the card is secured to the case chassis with two thumb screws as it should be, nothings going to break.

When did I say ATi was first?

If we look again, I didn't. How about reading my post first again hmmm?

I said that two of the latest cores on one PCB is far more impressive than two cards stuck together.

Edit: And I wasn't surprised when I noticed who posted it  and then you get beaten anyway by others with correct facts, ah classic.

The screws might become contorted if the GPU is transferring a lot of heat and putting a load of weight on them... Sure that's not a direct problem, but what happens when you want to get the thing out? :p
