I've seen plenty of adverts with phone numbers, especially in the motors section. Using the ask seller a question is as good as an email really. You can have ebay send you an email every time you get asked a question.

I would just grab a free pay as you go sim and put that number on, use it just for ebay.
Safer than putting your proper mobile number on
