Just Got My 3870X2

Hmmm really?

I have a couple of optical drives, two hard drives, scsi card and several USB peripherals. I *might* go crossfire/X in future so I know for sure I'll need it for that.

Yea I thought I may be pushing it but I've had no problems with it. I will probably want to go CrossfireX some time and I will need to upgrade soon.

Just thought i would add a small benchmark while Ulfhed gets some gaming benchmarks.

Running 3DMark06 at 1650x1080 i have managed 17196, only a small decrease from 1280x1024 - i presume this is normal.

Dont ya just think Loadsa and Tom are the perfect couple? :).

Hope you not calling it FAT :p.

Well it certainly looks it :p.

Might aswell have new signs for PC's. WARNING wide load!, or calling these sort of cards, HGC's, for, heavy goods cards, coz those coolers certianly aint light :D

Just ordered mine for delivery tomorrow. Had to get a new PSU as well as my current one is 500w - never mind. I'll do some benchmarks on the game I play the most when I get the chance - supreme commander forged alliance!
I think it would be ok with your psu also

I ran 8800gt sli on a enermax liberty 500w with no issue, it drew 380W max.

Has your Crysis performance gone down from 8.2 to 8.3? At 1680x1050 in the Crysis bench I get an average of around 43-44fps where you're getting 36-37fps.

No idea but your Q6600 is clocked at 3.6, mine's clocked at 3.0. :)

Not sure if it would make that big a difference but I thought I'd point it out.

Could well be CPU limited then, I though Crysis wasn't really bothered about CPU's when it came down to the GPU bench.

I'll be sticking the 8.3's on tomorrow some time and I'll see how it effects my Crysis scores.

It is GPU limited but I imagine with all the AI soldiers you fly past the CPU is doing something.

I might try downclocking my CPU and running the benchmark again.

You'll find that on Crysis with the X2 you need a fast CPU as well.

I get 53 fps in the Crysis bench at 3.5Ghz, other people with Quads at 4Ghz are getting 60fps, quads at 4.5Ghz are getting mid 60's.

Also, for best performance in Crysis you need to run Vista x64 - Crysis 64bit EXE - DX9.
