I don't class the 16G even as v1.5 as it adds zero feature, just able to chuck more stuff into it, more like V1a or something, an alternative rather than you can do more.

It depends if 3G is the only feature, if it adds proper bluetooth and SDK really takes off then iphone will really becomes a true smart phone. May be even a GPS too.
 
I'm not too bothered about the bluetooth, apart from sending files to a computer I wouldn't use it.

However, if they upped the camera resolution, and put in some simple adjustments then it could be much-improved, at the point where I'd consider using it.

I think the key is the SDK.. if they (the community of developers who've had the SDK early) pull some good apps out then it's going to blow the phone wide-open, and the official apps won't matter anyway*

*You can bet if there's a demand for something, someone will build the app and sell it, so we aren't waiting around for Apple to add it!

.. then again, how far will Apple let developers dig in to the core features of the phone.

E.g. I can't see Apple allowing someone to write a true Skype client that is accessed through the Phone app.
 
You just reminded me EVH. The worst feature of the iphone is its god awful camera. camera phone images are awful at best but the main reason most of good are because of a well supported flash unit. Any phone camera needs a flash! The images from my iphone are just awful!
