NVIDIA and ATI HDCP Compatible Graphics Cards Roundup

It is HDCP compliant. That list isn't exhaustive, its just a selection of cards.

i never said it was exclusive to that list but that card is not hdcp from that test and the ocuk page!!

there are asus 8500gt that are hdcp but this card isn't asus make 4 types of 8500gt and this is the one that isn't hdcp!!

going from the first msg the op had this is the case

HD DVD, Blu-ray Disc and DVD players (with HDMI or DVI connectors) use HDCP to establish an encrypted digital connection. If the display device—or in the case of using a PC to decrypt and play back HD DVD or Blu-ray media, the graphics card (hardware, drivers and playback software)—does not support HDCP, then a connection cannot be established. As a result, a black picture and/or error message will likely be displayed instead of the video content.

I think you'll find your wrong mate. The link the OP has supplied is a 256mb model, presumably if that is the one he's bought (the 256mb model) then it should be HDCP compliant.

http://uk.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=2&l2=6&l3=515

You'll notice that the only one in the list that isn't HDCP compliant is the 512mb model.

Unless he has been sent a 512mb model by mistake then it should work (or ASUS's website is wrong of course).

yes i know this been on the asus site but in the reivew section of the card on ocuk the first reiview quotes the card sent was the ASUS GeForce 8500GT 512MB which is the one im talking about!!

its not the first time ocuk hasn't listed the right info on some pages!!

anyway this isn't the point the point is the op has the card its giving him the old non hdcp card when loading powerd dvd or windvd and the hd adviser so just rma it!

And they wonder why people buy copies...have to buy a new videocard, to 99% of people won't know what HDCP is and why it's important. Copies will have no HDCP encryption.

Calm down the the excessive use of exclamation marks mate, makes you seem overly agressive.

Anyway, the OP was talking about a 256mb model card. The 256mb models are HDCP Compliant as I said... So unless he's been sent the wrong card, or OcUK have got the wrong version on the website (as you said) then this should work.

Bald-Eagle22, you need to find out whether you've got a 512mb version or a 256mb version of the card.

You'll be able to find out through the nVidia control panel and press the System Information link.

If you've got a 512mb model, contact OcUK as they've sent you the wrong thing.

That said however, there is no mention of the cards being HDCP Compliant in OcUK's description. So it looks like they've got a mix up somewhere.
