Heya guys, first time post here. Just built myself a new rig and finally got it to run stable. Still havent finished adding stuff to it (such as new new HD's and a dedicated soundcard) but its now running stable in Vista 32bit.

First of all, ive got a 3870X2 running at stock as my main GPU - with the new drivers I was wondering if its worth getting a 3870XT on the other slot. I read its limited to 4x, but im not sure how much of an impact thats going to have - any ideas?

Secondly, ive never OC'd a piece of hardware in my life. I managed to grab a snazzy zalman to put over the CPU but I'd like to OC it to 3.00. The bios looks easy enough but I have no real idea what the settings are, when asking around everyone had a different idea how to get it to that level. I was hoping for some help here.

Specs
2.13 intel 6400
3870X2 sapphire ati card
2x 250gb HD drives
1x DVDRW
4gigs (I know it only reads 3 - upgrading to 64bit after ive completed the upgrades) of corsair 6400 ram
p182 case

Thanks in advance

In answer to your query about overclocking, look in the overclocking section and read "beginners guide to overclocking". Very nice and easy to use guide, of course it differs from motherboard to motherboard on the exact details.

What motherboard do you have? As that will make it easier for people to help you. Nice build, congratulations at getting it stable first time round, I had tonnes of difficulty doing it =D

I highly doubt it's worth getting another GFX card to run CrossfireX btw. Firstly, no drivers yet, although they should make an appearance soon and secondly, the X2 is a beast, with my configurations, I can run ANYTHING. Crysis runs perfectly playable on very high settings, no AA and 1024 resolution... tbh if that doesn't suit your needs, you're gonna want more than just another graphics card, such as an extreme processor, DDR3 etc. None of which is worth it tbh.

Edit ** Just seen your motherboard, seems ok, like I said, ask around on the overclocking forums for someone who has experience with that board**

Welcome to the forums!
