$10 Trillion in about a years time...

Feels like my own situation. The world is just one big pile of debt.

OHHH GOTTA GET ME FRIDGE ON FINANCE LIKEEE!

Wasn't World War II funded on finance from the US, partly? I bet we could chop a lot off of that number of theirs.

Indeed - but I think it's been paid back now, with interest.

So where does $10 trillion actually come from? Loans from other countries? Can't they just print $10 trillion worth of dollars and bingo, debts paid :D

hehe yeh that has good historical referances. circa germany 1923.

that ended well :p

The Chinese virtually own the US these days.

and the EU. the Trade deficit grows by some huge amount every hour :(

We're paying them back fighting their war, they don't deserve a penny from us.
Anyway, I expect they'll just invade the countrys they owe money too if they start to get the hump, in another pointless war.

That's how much it cost to travel into space using that weird contraption on contact was it not :o

Bloody Americans, It's there fault were still just 1 planet then

All these people commenting on China owning the EU and USA, but the consumers desire for cheaper product is as much to blame as the businessman's desire, some might argue more so, for profit.

Trade deficit isn't really to do with national debt. Government debt comes from them issuing things like bonds which are sold on the open market i.e. government sells a bond for $100 to an investor and promises to pay them $110 back in 3 years time. Bonds usually have a low rate of return but are considered extremely low risk.
