Just over your shoulder
I have an Antec P180 atm, and have just noticed the Cosmos on special offer today.....anyone got any thoughts on whether this will be an upgrade or not ?

Have a few pennies burning a hole in my pocket......oh, and will my Scythe Ninja fit still ?

Pros and Cons, please, chaps ?

ppl that'll go for the cosmos are hardly likely to be taking it back and forth to LAN parties ;) Im only running 1 hd at the moment and no problems, but you can alter the HDD cooling if you so wish.

D.M, any chance you could list your build in the Cosmos, including overclocks? I would be intrested to see your pc's temps for the CPU, HDDs and graphics card.

Did you buy and fit any extra fans, especially to cope with the HDD area?

Could you estimate the maximum height for a heatsink fan, please? I'm getting cold feet about whether this case can cope with the likes of a Noctua NH-U12P, Tuniq Tower, or even a Thermalright IFX-14!

Spec:

Abit IP35 Pro
Quad Q6600 2.4ghz o/c'd to 3ghz
(Thermalright Ultima 90i w/Noctua 120mm Fan 1200rpm & AS5)
4x1gb Crucial Ballistix Tracers PC2-8500
BGF 8800GTS 512mb (G92)
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 250GB SATA-II 16MB Cache
Tagan BZ 900w PSU
Samsung DVDRW
Samsung DVD
Sony 1.44mb

Temps on hand:

CPU - 31c,31c,28c,30c in windows idle-ish ;)
GFX - GPU=53.8c PCB=45.5c
H/D - 36c

Room is really warm at the moment and no active cooling setup for the H/Drive yet either (will be buying one soon, maybe another Noctua as they are very quiet). Also the fan i'm running on the CPU is designed for quietness not massive airflow so cpu temps could be reduced a lot more if I changed it.

Distance from the mobo tray to the case strut that holds the side panel is a little over 18cms so i'd allow about 16cms max (which if im right it'll take the TR Ultra 120 extreme/tuniq tower/noctua and the IFX-14?)

Hope this helps? :)

Does seem to me that it may well be 6 of one, half a dozen of the other then......which - probably - means not enough of a reason to change I reckon.

Thanks, guys :)

OK, so I am revisiting this.....perhaps a Cosmos S now.....any thoughts ?

Seems to be some debate about the Cosmos' cooling ability.....would be running as per spec in sig, mild OC on Quad to 3.2GHz.....

great case

i posted some pics here http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17185358&page=37 (half way down)

i have a 3.2 oc on mine and temps are no different than the stacker 830 i had previously. (temps posted on same page)
ive been very happy since i got mine last week, I had read elsewhere that the tuniq tower wouldnt fit with the door mounted fan but it dows (it does touch the tuniq casing, but only just, and doesnt put any presure on it)

great case

ive been very happy since i got mine last week, the only trouble i had was getting the side panel fan to miss hitting the tuniq tower.

I am using a Scythe Ninja......is this likely to be a problem, not sure how the size compares to the Tuniq Tower.....?

looks smaller than the tuniq, so you'l be fine. even if you were to run into trouble with the sidefan, from what ive read on the coolermaster forums they are releasing a revised side panel next month and will replace panels that have caused issue.

H was showing off (from CeBIT) the newer cosmos S witha side window instead of a fan.

i was wondering if that was the revised version you were talkign about

think that was the prototype, wouldnt really suit a side window and there would be nowhere to put the 200mm fan.
im sure ther would be a market for one though..

afaik they are just gonna extent the mesh panel and re-design the fan braket
