Why are people this nieve?

They were hardly going to say 'Buy this pattern wing mate, they are a real pain to fit' were they :p

And Ive been told spraying is easy if you get someone to match the paint for you :)

BMW seem to go into great detail to describe everything (and charge for /everything/ as well!)

It might be a way to go but I am sure this guy will sort you out for under £400.... He's sorted out my parents a couple of times.

BARRY HEAD 70, Greatbridge Rd,

EDIT> Was reading backwards - hadn't seen you'd had a cheaper quote. Still amazes me the price difference between Scotland and England though! Even the main dealers for service only charge £48/hr labour instead of up to £95/hr in Hampshire. Sam

I'll save those details for sure thanks! I've already contacted the place down the road from me that I mentioned above so will see how they go first as he's quoted 300+vat !

Reading this thread makes me feel glad that my old man taught me about cars, cant believe some of the prices quoted here, ive had cars resprayed for £600!

Seriously tho, around the midlands you can get a complete car sprayed for around 1k inc prep, and thats from well known bodyshops.

You will be surprised, the key is in the prep, not the spraying tbh.I have somepics of the A class i had done last year somewhere, even a picky sod like yourself would have trouble picking up the fact that it had been painted:p

AA report certainly didnt raise any concerns over the paint:p

You dont *have* to pay BMW money to get BMW quality work done in my experience.

Indeed!

I'll post a pic of the end product after I get the car back next week to show what a £300~ sprayjob looks like, fingers crossed it's good else I get to pay nothing!

Not that BMW spraying is guaranteed to be uber, I've got a front passenger wing a slightly different shade of silver to the rest of the car after they resprayed it to remove some stonechips

Well Scotthall of Winchester are totally uber at spraying but that was through insurance so no way I'm using them as they're even more expensive on labour charges (£60/hr!), they sprayed the whole drivers side last year and it was immense! the only thing I didn't like was that someone had left a comb and a nail file in my cubby hole !

Thats the problem with silver. My bonnet, bumper and drivers wing could do with a touch up due to stone chips but I'm worried it won't match so probably won't bother.

They probably used them as tools when refitting the doors which were stripped down and replaced etc, either that or the glue that they use to fit the sealing strips with!

Well, front wing replacement came today, took it to my guy down the road and he said it was better quality than some panels people supply him with their cars so all looks good! Am dropping my car off Wednesday and will pick it back up again 4 days later.

£345 inc VAT = ***!
