Hang Brown for Treason!!

The Sun says people should be allowed to think for themselves. The irony.

LOL wasn't it sun readers who attacked a paediatrician?

Don't get me wrong either I think the treaty is the same as the constitution and there really should have been a referendum on it.

Why? Because people don't know enough about Europe and this might have sparked the UKs interest in Europe and the benefits membership brings.

Has anybody tried to read the Lisbon Treaty? NO? I have, and let me tell you the whole thing is a deliberately obfuscated. Google it yourself.

We get a referendum here (it’s a constitutional requirement), and I’m voting NO. I am generally favourable towards Europe, my country has benefited enormously from the EU. But this document was drafted is such as way as to make it unreadable by anybody. This was deliberately done to hide any thing objectionable in maze of spaghetti that requires you have every treaty since the treaty of Rome to refer to while reading the treaty of Lisbon. its a disgrace to the EU citizens intelligence and dignity to attempt this deceit.

I can guarantee you, none of your politicians have read it all. I Urge you to read it

Nate

Nate have you read UK laws?

I don't mean the easy to read highway code but actual laws as they are presented in parliament?

Try reading one that's been amended several times. Go on try it.

;)

Here is a better understanding of it.

I'd rather leave the voting on things like EU Constitutions to people who actually know about the things, instead of giving a say to anyone who's over 18 and thinks "I don't want us to be part of Europe".

In the General Elections we get to vote for people who we think will do what's best for us - we should let them do what they think's best for us, not have a national vote on everything that goes through parliament. That's not how our democracy works.

we lose billions per year on the 100,000+ EU regulations alone and lose many more billions on other areas. also the CAP (Common Agricultural Policy) is making millions of people in africa die each year, for every €1 given in aid to african countries, €8 damage is done to their economy due to the CAP. not to mention the unelected EU commission is full of people with very bad history.

sauce

Well sauce from anyone apart from UKIP as their site is a complete fabrication.

Also how does the CAP damage africa and how should we care.

To be honest I'd rather subsidse europeans than rely on the likes of Mugabe for my food!

all three of the main parties promised a referendum though - although blair promised a full third term but he didnt stick to that either. also this is a perfect example of that the whip system means MPs have to vote on behalf of their leader rather than their constituency or risk losing their career.

The CAP causes more damage than EU aid solves.

Urban myth. What happened was some kids sprayed graffiti on a paediatrician's surgery in the aftermath of the Sarah Payne murder and this got blown up out of all proportion by the left-wing press an attack by the anti-paedophile protesters.

Can you prove that?

*edit* Just read your Wiki link, thanks.

Labour are in power, I don't actually think they should have to call a referendum unless they decide to. We put people in power so they can make decisions for us, I haven't voted labour in my life but I see no reason why they should pander to the tories or lib dems on this.

One of the reasons they are in power is because they agreed to a referendum in their manifesto. They have now gone back on that promise. That is what I feel to be politically damaging.

Yes we do vote for people to represent us, but in this case they didn't represent their constituants, they represented their party. If I am voting for a party rather than an individual then let's get a PR system so my vote actually makes a difference.

Seen a few 'Gordon Brown is an illegitimate prime minister' i.e. you didn't vote for him comments thrown around, well in this country you vote for a party not a leader. So, erm, that argument is irrelevent.
