Hello all,

Dad's Porsche came clear today so naturally he's looking to insure it, it is covered by his salvage insurer but he's looking to see if he can save money by doing it personally.

Any suggestions? He's 44, millions of ncb's and been driving since he was 17.

Many Thanks :)

Picture as promised! No videos yet as my cousin has the camera!!!! But it's awesome :D

Worst 'my Dad has a Porsche thread' ever :p

My dad's apparantly brought home an MOT-failure 944 with plans to fit a hot 1.8t lump...My mum's not talking to him at the moment.

My old man can't focus his attention on one car for more than half an hour.

He's had his 205 rally car for a few years now...And that's the longest I think he's owned one car.

It's a T Reg 911 3.6 Carrera 4 Auto.

In case anyone wanted to know...

Also cheapest quote we have found is for £450 for him and his gf as an added driver....and £4300 if it's got me on there as well :p

My old man uses Porsche Insurance for his 4S the reason being is they are one of the few insurance companys who would insure a car over £75k

They also provide you free tack day cover (maximum 2 per year).

im assuming the 205 is in bits and not a completed project?

always fancied having a project like this, hopefully one day i will have the time/space/money/confidence to take it on!

Nope - he competes in it fairly regularly.

I've posted pics of it before.

His bought a reasonable porsche and his insurance is only £450 and he wants it cheaper? He obvisuoly cant afford the Porsche then. :/ (Nowt wrong with getting a good deal even if i was a millionaire i'd shop around) But my dad pays £780 for his turbo and he has a gagillion years ncb

I used Porsche insurance for the GT3 who were about £100 above the best quote I got, but within their price I got 2 track days a year, which was well worth the extra £100. It also had the gaurantee of Porsche approved body repairs, Porsche loan cars and all sorts of fringe benefits that I can't remember but which I felt were worth money at the time. I was paying £1150 per month for me and the wife (who has 6 points!) which was good being that its more to insure than a normal 911 or Turbo, amazingly!

Having said that they were rubbish on the RS4!
