Hi,

Maybe its me being stupid but I cannot find any 8800 Ultra's on the OcUK website? can anyone give me a pointer??

Thanks - J. :)

So is the 9800 GX2 the equivalent replacement for the 8800 Ultra or does it replace the 8800 GTX (or both!?) sorry im just trying to get my head around which models follow suit?

And anyone who bought GTX on day 1 or even a Ultra on day 1 is laughing (I dont call that a waste) as they are as good or better than above half backed new gens and have lasted 16+ months.

Infact the overclocked Ultra models may be faster than both above in some tests.

I know people who want to buy another Ultra as an upgrade and do SLI rather than sell it for 2 new cards. Ultra's are still really good cards, even more so now that they have come down in price..

Ultra still easily cuts through any of the latest games available. It's only Crysis that I have a slightly low FPS on but that's to be expected when I refuse to run at anything but 1920x1200 on maximum.

Although the G80 has less processing power than the G92, at high resolutions with AA the Ultra will still kick the backside of the newer G92 cards. 110GB/s of memory bandwidth is not to be sniffed at.

Dont really matter if its "G" whatever, we all know its a die shrunk G80 and aint really next Gen.

I hope peeps with GTX/Ultras know this and skip the X2 and 9800GTX.

115.2GB of Memory Bandwidth for me. :p

At high res, it's only really Crysis where the GTX/Ultra struggle against a G92 GTS, as the sheer amount of shader processing going on does give the G92 an advantage. In virtually every other game, you won't see an Ultra for dust. Yes they were nutty prices when new but if you can find them discounted or used they're still superb cards for high res gaming.

They still wont play Crysis the way msot want as you already know my opinion on that game and what needs patched.

Every other game is more important and they will all Max them at 1920's for a long time yet.

I will buy the next real gen whatever name it goes by (I believe we will see 1 by June and these are half bakes same as before).
