Opinions on Clanmates Wishlist

Clanmate has done a lot of research on here and has asked for my opinion on his intended spec but I do not know enogh about the peripherals to justify an opinon. Your thought's would be appreciated.

Bear in mind that all of these components will be purchased in the U.S and the choices OcUK offer is not available in this case.

I'm still planning and still doing a lot of research but this is what I have narrowed it down to. I basically need to buy a whole new PC because the one I use now is not mine. Feedback will be greatly appreciated

Case - Cooler Master Cosmos 1000
Motherboard - Abit IP-35 Pro
CD/DVD - LITE-ON Black 20X DVD+
Hard drive - Western Digital Raptor WD1500ADFD 150GB 10,000 RPM
CPU - Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz
CPU Heatsink - Tuniq Tower 120
GPU - EVGA 8800GTS 512mb (G92)
Sound Card - Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer 7.1
PSU - Corsair 620HX
Ram - Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2 x 1GB)


Monitor - SAMSUNG 226BW Black 22"
Keyboard - Logitech G15
Mouse - Logitech G9
Router - Still looking
Thermal Compound - Arctic Silver 5

Looks pretty decent overall although I'm not a huge fan of Raptors personally on a price/performance basis. I might change the Ram from Ballistix to any other decent PC6400 as it can be a bit temperamental apparantly.

The HX 620w is slightly overkill but no real harm in that.

Looks alright to me, I would change the liteon DVD drive tho, mate has had nuthin but trouble with his, pioneer all the way I say.

For the G15 see if you can find somewhere with the V1 rather than the new ones, he doesnt have much HDD space for room there, slap in a 500Gb spinpoint or similar.

Agreed, especially with the Raptors... I dont think that there is a noticable speed increase..
