Is the Q9450 really in stock on the 10th?

OCUK like to try and be the first in the UK on a lot of things.

also not may people form the shop are on the forums, try phoning or a web note the shop.

If only one shop has them for the 10th and rest for a week or so later then i know which date i`d be believing.

whats not to believe??? why would they lie, you don't know if the have secured them form an alternative source and getting them quicker.

i believe it. hence why its £40 more than anywhere else...

i'll wait the extra 9 days thanks (on pre-order as of last night). im still sore after being stung on the 8800gtx on its first day release (£520 ) roll on the 19th! :D

personally, i don't get any pre-order stuff, anywhere, i like to wait for supply to actually catch up, take the 8800 GT's they had massively inflated prices and where out of stock everywhere.

i don't have a problem with retailers, charging over the odds, for new stuff, think how much time that probably spend on the phone securing these shipments. trey have to factor in that effort to get them into the price.

that chip looks good, 8X multi, so will probably upgrade in about 3 mounts, but I'm still blown away form my P4 to Q6600 upgrade.

Q6600 @ 3.2 is equivalent to the Q9450 @ 2.8.

Personally from what I've read on the two processors I'd personally stick with a Q6600 if I had one and upgrade when the Nehalems (sp?) come out, but people have varying opinions on the matter.

Just keep in mind it has a low multi multi so requires higher end hardware to OC well

Well consider you're getting £120 for your Q6600 (G0 that is, B3 probably goes for £90) then you need to put extra £140 in it.. no it's not worth it at least for now if you already have a Q6600.

It will be very interesting to see what the average attainable overclock will be, I can't see myself upgrading from my q6600 g0 @ 3.3Ghz unless these new chips can hit 3.6+ reliably (which may equate to similar performance to the Q6600 @4Ghz due to better cache and instruction set).

From what i've seen you should be able to get 3.6Ghz (450 fsb) fairly easily with a decent board.
Personally i'm going for it since i have an old socket a machine at the moment and i'm satisfying my craving for new shiny bits :-) i wouldn't see much point in upgrading if you have a Q6600 as it probably wont make that much difference on everyday tasks.

I want to get 3.6ghz out of the Q9450 too, using a Asus Maximus Formula board by the way, or should I say I will be.. This is good news.

Ive been holding out with my e6600 waiting for this. Although if i had of jumped on the q6600 go bandwagon i probly wouldnt bother;)
